  1. I know the feeling ..going through the same thing, Definitely a game changer when it comes to your social life K.
  2. if you need to know anymore either PM me or ask aloud ... there s a lot to know but its simple if you follow the instructions
  3. this subject is a can of worms , but with all the answers. I imported a couple of caravans in to Oz from the Uk and in doing so I learnt all about the import laws etc. and boy is there some! one good thing is because you have owned them for more than one year in your name and paid registration on them . you will get them in even if they are post 1989 if the scoot [i myself have had many] is pre 1989 then it gets in anyway. then u have to get them inspected and upgrade where necessary. fortunately UK spec cars need very little.. Japanese spec cars need even less As to the Jest ski that would be allowed in because it is not a road going vehicle.. the most import thing is ..you must NOT ship them till you get a import approval cert and yes they can go in the same container ...they will be inspected and if they find any mud, seeds dead plants get yer wallet out its going to be expensive.. is it worth it YES you will double your money on them when u come to sell em K yeah bad grammar I know
  4. Thanks Pat have some questions will PM u over the weekend as the move is getting nearer K.
  5. This sounds great, just the type info I have been looking for ..I have always been self employed, even when I had a contract which basically held to me to a company full time. when I was on the west coast I had a repair contract for homes that children who wards of the state where placed and shipped in the odd Caravan from the UK and then got them certified and road legal, .. lets see what the east coast has to offer, hopefully will landing soon then looking for wheels immediately Kia Pregio comes to mind thanks again K.
  6. Names Kerry, moving back over. Originally from the UK but lived in the US many years, got our 189 visa and moved to west coast south of Perth. Wife could not handle the distance so we moved back to the US temporarily. I am heading back to the east coast now single :0(, looked at it this way no real strong family ties in the US now , been out of the UK to long and Loved Oz and all that with goes with it .. scary YES, mid 40’s and don’t know a sole on the east coast or really a place of destination, Brisbane comes to mind but still wide open.. will be there before xmas. looking at starting up a little Handyman business or a small auto-repair shop all depending on where I land and the need around, imported Caravans from the UK when I was on the west coast
  7. Thanks... its a hard road to travel but it has to be walked before you can start running and rebuilding ...its the starting point that is the hardest I think Thanks again K.
  8. yeah Janine might just do that ...as I haven't stuck in a pin in the map yet, But one thing for sure not heading back to Bunbury. Originally from Yorkshire Sheffield. where on the Gold coast are you located? K. Dont hesitate to Pm if you have any other questions
  9. yeah .. when we lived in Bunbury WA it was different , but as a single person that seems to be the way to go or the suburbs of a big city. lived in Arizona so I can handle the heat. funny enough Melbourne has a lot of forums/facebook pages for expats and it is cooler lets see what unfolds. noticed the bike in the pick, sold mine off when I bailed out of Bunbury , flogged the Triumph off here in the states and wait for it buzzing around on an Indian Bajaj Vespa Clone right now .. no Lid Law in AZ it feels strangely weird thanks again for your input K.
  10. yeah , sorry if it seems confusing Bungo... simply put heading back down in a month or so and have no real destination so looking for solid expat communities or people to make new acquaintances and find new opportunities, I am not looking for hand outs just a starting point thanks again K.
  11. Names Kerry and looking for a new location originally born n raised in Yorkshire, yes I admit that , but moved to the US. and now have an Ozzie PR Status. Partner got home sick and I've just got back to the US to take care of business regarding the separation after 14 years, heading back down in a month or so and looking for a new location and would love to meet up with expats or know where the expat communities are. I have lived in Adelaide then Bunbury wa. but have now sold up and have no connection to these locations. So looking at anywhere and anything where there is a chance to meet up with expats, seek new opportunities and make friends …any input is welcome, any advice is truly appreciated and any question is answered thanks K. :chatterbox:
  12. yeah sounds so familiar I moved from the UK many moons ago and ended up in the US. which became my home and I met and married a girl from California, we decided to apply for the 189 visa[skilled permeant res] which we got and then moved first to Adelaide then on to Bunbury where I set up a small business, a home etc. I loved it. She became home sick, then with the loss of a child hood friend she went back to the US. I had to sell up and walk the old haunts while undoing our life in oz. I have just got back to the US. to do the same here and will be back down under in a month or so look for fresh stomping grounds, friends and opportunities with a 14 year marriage behind me… its not fun, so I know where you are coming from
