  1. I bought some from ikea. And I also went to the storage company for bubble wrap and extra boxes. Good luck x Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. I have to say this forum has helped me and my family tremendously! If I have a question I can ask or usually find the answer somewhere on here. I made a friend on here in a very similar situation to me, arriving a few weeks before me going to the same part of Melbourne, who I met up with last weekend, so before we even land in Oz I have someone to reach out too. And that wouldn't have happened if it wasn't for this forum. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Thanks @flybyknight that's the plan for the long term , to build our own home. But I'll be happy with a mcmansion For now Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. This is awesome. Thank you so much Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Have you made the move yet ? Did you ever reach a realistic idea of costs ? I Moving in your exact position (family x4) looking in western newer build suburbs. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. We are looking into getting a 'move cube' google it. They have a few different sizes, we are not taking much really so possibly going for a small one. It's not as costly as some of the quotes we have had!!
  7. That would be great ! So much to think about isn't there.
  8. We are in a similar boat. Moving over in May with a 5 year old and 2 year old daughters. I won't be working at first but I hope to ASAP! There looks to be a lot of choice with nursery/kinder's but I don't know about the funding, I should probably look into that too

We used emigration group and had a very smooth ride and replied to every silly Email and daft question I asked
  10. I have wondered this a few times, we are due to move to Melbourne in May and I know I am going struggle with the lack of friends/family. My little unit (hubby me & 2 girls) are solid and we will adjust but here in the UK we have loads of friends who we see regular and my family babysit at the drop of a hat! I believe you can hire child are too so I assume that will be the route we take until we have made some new friends. Scary but I am still excited. I class myself as a friendly person and we are an outgoing kinda family so hopefully it won't take too long to meet people.
  11. We are in a very similar position, leave here end of May with a 5yr old and 18 month old daughters. We came out to melbourne earlier this year and eldest loved Geelong but hubby is most likely to find work in Melbourne so this is a suburb we have looked into. Well this and a Million others !! It's exhausting. Sorry I can't offer any advice but I'd be interested in others views. There is a site called 'life in victoria' some Really helpful guys on there may be able to help out.
  12. We went out to Melbourne last year to reccy and we stayed in a house in Richmond via Air bnb. It was fantastic much better than hotels or a like. And so easy !! We emigrate may 31st and we have booked a nice Place in Richmond for a month, basically because we already know our way round Richmond so that helps settle things down a bit, plus getting Into the city and pretty much anywhere was sooooo easy! So we don't have to rush into buying a car. Most inner city suburbs have brilliant public transport links, nothing like we have in the UK (North)
  13. We are Massive rugby league fans over in England (st.Helens) moving to melbourne so I have already started watching Storm. Although I think I am guna have to try and get Into AFL too, seems to be like a religion in Melbourne.
  14. Thank you kindly I think id go For a medium
  15. How much is your cube costing ? We are looking at one of them and can't decide on size. We only want to take kids stuff / personal bits like all my pics in frame and my shoes
