  1. Hi Movingtoaus, Yes I was fortunate and my application went through very smoothly. I got an invite about 2 months after submitting EOI and 189 about 2 months after submitting the visa application.
  2. For doctors evidence of full registration with AHPRA is adequate for skills assessment https://www.border.gov.au/Trav/Work/Work/Skills-assessment-and-assessing-authorities
  3. Yes, thanks verystormy, I'm aware of that. I have my skills assessment in the form of an AHPRA certificate which looking at the website is what's required for my job. Because some of my documents are overseas I wanted to know if I needed to get them if I was invited to apply as I think there's time limits to acting on the invite?
  4. Hi, I am currently working on 457 in Australia and wish to apply for PR 189 visa. I have yet to put in EOI (pending IELTS) but was going through what documents I need to have ready if I am invited to apply. Will they require re-submission of things like birth certificate and employment history, given that these were part of my 457 application? I need to be prepared as some of these items are back in the UK at the moment. Also, a question about the points allocation. I can get 5 points for having worked in my occupation in Australia for between 1-3 years. Can I also claim 5 points in the other factors section which refers to having done a professional year in Aus in the 4 years before applying (the explanation of this section then refers to courses whereas I had assumed this referred to actual work done?). Thanks in anticipation.
  5. Thank you Leanne. I'll have a look at those options.
  6. Hi, I've been working in Australia for just over 1 year on a 457. What would be my best route in applying for PR? I believe I cannot apply via employer nominated route until I have worked for them for 2 years? I assume there would then be some period after PR granted that I would need to continue to work for that employer (legally not just morally!). Am I able to go down the state sponsored route whilst working here on 457? Does this stand a reasonable chance of success? Thanks
  7. I shipped boxes with SevenSeas from UK to Aus last year and had no problem ringing up to change my delivery address. I think so long as you do it before the ship docks at final destination it is not a problem - best to check by ringing them though.
  8. Hi guys, Just moved to Melbourne and wanted advice about securing a long-term rental. Seems plenty of places but also plenty looking. Is it acceptable to make several applications at the same time? I see that in most of the application forms you have to sign a declaration stating that if application is successful you agree to enter into a rental agreement, so can they treat that as a binding contract? I've yet to get my deposit from UK rental repaid - not had anything from the letting agent that they plan to deduct but aren't answering e-mails... How do I present myself as a reliable tenant in Oz without this? Thanks for the advice.
