  1. It's a multi-entry 12 month visa valid for 12 months from her last entry.
  2. I am an Australian citizen and my defacto partner (Swedish) will shortly apply for a de facto partner visa. She already has a 12 month tourist visa. We're not sure when to apply for the partner visa. If we apply early in the 12 months will she still be able to enter and exit Australia using her tourist visa or will the fact that she's applied for a partner visa mean that border guards may deem her not a genuine tourist and prevent her re-entering. Many thanks.
  3. I am an Australian citizen. I've been separated from my (Australian) wife for a long time now but never got around to the actual divorce proceedings. In the mean-time I met a Swedish girl, I've lived with her in Sweden for 12 months and now we want to apply for a partner visa to Australia. The visa says we must be in a relationship to the exclusion of all others, but it doesn't specifically say divorced and I can't get a straight answer out of the immigration help line. I'm starting the divorce process now (which takes about 3 months) but we want to apply for the partner visa now. (I'm still married now, but will clearly be divorced long before the 10 to 14 months processing time is elapsed.) Does anybody have experience, or know, if my current situation is a show stopper for granting a visa? Obviously we could just wait until the divorce is through but a daisy chain of court / government processes is less than appealing. Thanks in advance.
  4. Thanks everybody for the input. I'm leaning towards applying offshore - and that is made easier without the need for a visit to Berlin. (I was assuming there would also be an interview.) I assume the list of doctors will include some Swedish ones, but that's no biggie. During the processing we do want to spend time together, she doesn't need to work, but she would like to be a genuine tourist and see some of Australia. So the question is do we apply for a 600 before or after lodging the offshore visa request. We're thinking 9 months might be a good duration as hopefully she will return to Sweden at the end and not have long to wait for a decision (but I know there are no guarantees). I can travel to Sweden for 3 to 6 months after those 9 months in Australia - so that gives us 12 - 15 months together. Hopefully that's enough! Thanks again. Cheers.
  5. My de Facto partner is planning to apply for an Australian Partner Visa - either 309 or 820 (onshore of offshore). I am an Australian citizen. We are trying to choose between lodging the application onshore and lodging it offshore. We have two questions. If she applies for a 600 visa what are the chances of getting a no further stay condition imposed? It would be her first time in Australia and she is Swedish (but I assume the issues would be similar for the British) Under this option she might apply for a 3 month 600 then apply onshore. If she applies off shore (after securing a 12 month 600 visa) how does she get medicals done? I presume she would follow the onshore medical process once requested by the CO? Is it correct to assume 600 visas allow multiple entries? Many thanks in advance.
