  1. I’ve read this and can totally understand what’s happening and why we are STILL waiting for AoS. Our son in law tried to ring today and attempted 7 times. Eventually he got an automated answer which asked him to state why he was ringing. “Assurance of support” he said “ you’re ringing about child support” the machine said so that got him nowhere ! It’s bad that opening times are same as work hours so makes it almost impossible to ring! We’re trying our local politician next as magic phone number we were given doesn’t get a sympathetic answer anymore..they are very rude if you ring it! If anyone has any ideas what we can do to try and find out what the hell is going on we would be most grateful! I might try my favorite green MP. He was very helpful when AoS payment levels were threatened with an increase. It appears that the AoS support line is the same number as unemployment queries! So that makes it almost impossible to get through. Sunniest still waiting..and at least it’s getting warmer in Port McQ
  2. Congrats. We’re still waiting for Aos confirmation! Good luck
  3. Thanks Jellybean T .....son in law ringing Centrelink tomorrow as he has the day off !
  4. Ooooo. So soon! Safe journeys and hopefully we’ll hear something soon...still waiting on Aos!
  5. Thanks David. We don’t have a houseful to move, just personal effects a keyboard and a table..as far as I can remember. So hopefully won’t be anything too much. Have a teddy bear I want to take which has recently been restored so should be ok and hubby has fishing rods.....
  6. Hi, what items attract duties? Is there somewhere that lists all this at all? Thanks
  7. We’re currently on 48 months and 3 weeks.....still waiting for Aos to be sorted........
  8. Congrats Sadge ..can feel for you as we’re still waiting for Aos...6 months now...hopefully we won’t be far behind you. All the best
  9. We applied for Aos in March 2019 and are still waiting ...due to errors in Centrelink and Aos office. We were then given a deadline to submit everything by 25 August....just waiting...waiting...waiting...
  10. That’s ok ..sorry can’t help with Spanish forms ..have only had to pay fine for my husband using more than 2 fishing rods and that was a drama in itself!
  11. I seem to remember that you just listed all the names you had been known under so I listed maiden name variant, first married name variant and then change to maiden name including change of first names through deed poll...no problem They give you the chance to add quite a few I think
  12. Are people mainly 173 or 143? As we’re still navigating Aos after being asked for docs etc in Feb 2019. Some of us take a little longer...what with med queries, new person on Aos....hope we hear something positive soon.
  13. I don’t know quite what you’re asking as this is quite self explanatory. The assuror must meet all these requirements .
  14. @Marisawrightthanks for the info. We’re not retired and expecting to work...we’re thinking of ING as our daughter banks with them.. lots to think about
  15. Thanks Peter2. There’s a lot to consider especially as my uk bank account I opened when I was 18....quite a few decades ago now
  16. Thanks David that’s really helpful..we have used the Commonwealth bank while on holiday and find them very good so might decide on them as we can pop in and talk rather than online, which sometimes you need!
  17. Thanks @JessyJ might consider them as a lot of people seem to use them and there’s a branch in Port Macquarie where we hope to live! On the Aos front, our daughter was told some of her income wasn’t valid for Aos assessment so we’ve asked a good friend and she’s submitted now and we’re waiting to hear...it’ll probably all happen at once as we’ve been waiting over 4 years now!
  18. Hi yes my daughter and son in law have an ING account and we wondered about the fee situation...I think some accounts also have a minimum deposit per month otherwise there’s a charge....will look into this! Thanks for the info.
  19. This may seem a silly question, but have you paid this from a uk bank account or Aussie one? As wondered if it can be done from either?
  20. I was just going to ask about bank accounts...and wondered what recommendations and experience people have of the Australian banking system. We’re wondering about ING or Commonwealth Bank? Any tips? TIA
  21. Thanks Amber...we decided to use a friend who lives and works in Canberra rather than one in regional NSW as wages are much lower there!
  22. Thanks..hadn’t thought of that actually....will be son in law and friend as joint.
  23. Aos saga continues. After our initial application was rejected as they had our daughter only earning $1 in one of the years. .....their mistake, we now hear that it has been rejected again, as carer pensions are not considered allowable income for Aos even though the website says it is. So now we have dropped our daughter and added a good friend....so hopefully will hear something more positive by the end of the month.....waiting....waiting....waiting...
