Hints and tips for finding a job in the UK

Thanks very much again for your thoughts. I really like the idea of getting a UK SIM card. I am keen to target a project manager position at some of the big technology firms so I also like the idea of making contact with them now. I will update the forum, hopefully when I have a job!

Hints and tips for finding a job in the UK

Thanks very much Bronyaur, Lady Rainicorn and Perthbum for your sharing your thoughts - very helpful. Can I also ask another question...do you think AUS work experience is any less/more thought of by UK employers than UK experience. I am appreciate it is obviously highly dependent on the field that you work in but am just interested your general thoughts/ experiences. The reason I ask I guess is that I have a little lurking feeling that AUS experience will not be as highly regarded.
  3. Hi all, After 8 great years in Melbourne, my wife, newborn and I have decided this is the year we move back to the UK. We can't wait! Although we will miss Australia, it will be fantastic to be closer to family and friends. We are planning to move back around May this year, which should allow plenty of time to do research. I wanted to ask your advice on any tips looking for a job remotely from Aus. For instance which are the best job websites to subscribe to? I am currently looking at Monster and Indeed. Also, any recommendations on recruitment agencies or even specific recruiters? We have a holiday in the UK planned for April so hopefully that opens up the possibility of lining up some interviews while we are back. Otherwise it will all have to be via Skype. I have seen some really useful hints on previous posts on how to phrase your cover letter to make sure employers know you are not fishing for a relocation package. Any other general hints/ tips/ interesting experiences much appreciated. Cheers.
