  1. I called immigration today, and she told me that they are currently on the end of March and some from the beginning of April. She said they have a huge workload, and June may take some time to be allocated, but couldn't give a timeframe.
  2. Here is a funny one for all you guys desperately waiting for that seems elusive 187 visa. I have been checking my immi account several times per day for the last few weeks, and today I logged on to see what everyone is waiting for from "received" to "finalised" Naturally, jumping up and down, heart beating fast, and popping open the champagne. Phoned the Wife, who is currently on the East Coast, got her all excited (an amazing feeling knowing that we will no longer have to pay $700 per week in childcare). Read the Grant letter........realised i'd logged into my 457 visa account! logged back in - 187 visa - "application received" Back down to earth with a huge bump! Hold out guys, theres a lot of us in the same boat......gutted!! visa and nomination applied 30th June Low risk country 3 persons occupation: Head Chef
  3. ah, I see, your partner is an Aussie. Well that sounds like it might work. If the 90 days runs out, then surely you would go on a bridging visa pending your application grant. That's a long time without work....sounds nice. :-) I guess you could apply for the job that you think would feel right, and request them to transfer your 457, and if nothing comes of it, then you have something to fall back on. It sounds like you will be alright chef. Cheers
  4. Hi Mate, I was in the same boat as you, a couple of times in fact, where the job doesn't suit and you feel like you are trapped. These situations were caused by management change also. There are a number of options for you. What I would do though, is wait the short while until your partner is added to your 457 visa, and then you both have options. Luckily for you, as a chef, there are hundreds of jobs going out there, a nd for another company to transfer your 457 as oppose to renewing a 457, is an awful lot cheaper. Obviously if your partner is on this at that time, than that enables you to move to your next job as a family unit, so it is worth waiting for. Also, once you leave your job, you have 90 days to find another sponsor willing to employ you, not the 28 days that it used to be. The other option, is to look at applying for a PR visa (186), direct entry. You do not have to complete the 2 years with your employer, and you could go for GSM. If I was you, and you had the funds available (around $11000 all up with migration agent fees, around $6800 without), I would wait for you partner to get onto your 457, look for a transfer of your visa to another company, and then apply for the 186/187 visa while you are with your new employer- direct entry (should take around 9 months currently). And then get on with your life. It is pretty tough mate, and sometimes it can be an unbearable situation, but all the best with it, and just remember, you are only as trapped as you feel. Even if you have to move back home and apply for a more appropriate visa, that gives you the freedom of choice and movement. All the best mate, and I hope something comes up soon. I'm a head chef myself, and feel empathy towards your situation. Also, if you are really stuck, I know a few people around Oz, who are looking to hire good chefs on a more permanent visa, if you want some details, just send me a PM, and ill help you where I can.
  5. hi there, If you have applied for your RSMS (187 visa), you should have received a bridging visa A, so when your 457 visa expires, this will allow you to stay in Australia until your RSMS is granted. Im not sure wether this will give you the work rights that you are currently on with your 457 visa (could someone chirp in here?). It looks like they are taking between 6 and 9 months for 187 visas to be processed, and they are currently looking at visas lodged in early February, so should be within the next 4 months (this is just a guideline). I applied a couple of days after you and am expecting to get my visa by March at the latest(fingers crossed). If you cant get the work rights, I would be saving your $$$$ now and taking a couple of months holiday (around Australia, as the BVA will not allow you to re-enter Australia). Hope this helps, and good luck.
  6. Hi guys, My Ma lodged my RCB, nomination and visa at the same time. When I log into immi website, it says application received. Would it be possible or how would I know that my nomination has been approved, would it say this somewhere or would I have to ask my ma? Many thanks
  7. Many thanks for your response I was under the impression that chefs were state priority 2 in WA, which is where I am applying from. I am applying direct as I didn't quite have my 2 years employment down with this particular employer in order to transition from my 457. Would you know if these factors have any bearing on the speed of my application being granted? Thank you
  8. Hi guys, new to this forum, but very interesting to see what is happening with other peoples visa progress. I applied for RCB, nomination and lodged at the same time on 30/06/16 LR country 187 direct entry as a chef 3 people, myself, my wife and son I was just wondering if any of you guys currently know how long its taking for visas to be processed and granted (fingers crossed), should all documents be uploaded correctly. is there any randomness involved in selections to be processed or is it a pretty fixed timeline, and can you get a gauge on when your time to be "called" is pending. Many thanks for your time
  9. Medical costs are going to be around $7000 - $9000, and we have that covered. you are right, but I guess its better to chance the risk of that happening than aborting life, something of which neither of us want to do. We haven't been together that long, but we are both level headed individuals who have hammered this out, and we do have a plan in place
  10. Hey, Many thanks for that info. I guess that she can come on my de-facto on my 457 visa, and renew my 457 with work, and then apply for Permanent Residence shortly after that, once the baby is born.
  11. Hi all, Im currently on a 457 visa that expires on july 2015. I have recently met a girl from France who is over here on a WHV, and she has fallen pregnant. We will not have been together for 12 months by the time she is due at the end of August. In july, I am eligible to apply for permanent residence, or alternatively, my employer will renew my 457 visa. I'm just wondering if I will be able to get my girlfriend, and unborn child on a de-facto visa, in order to stay living and working in this amazing country? Thanks in advance for your time.
