  1. Thanks, I had already read page 47, it at least satisfied the fact about not necessarily having to be in the country when the permanent visa is granted which is helpful. I am obviously just stupid...still can't make out if I would need a bridging visa or not, I understand it would be needed for maybe working or tourist visas (?) to enter in to Australia again if they were in the process of applying for a partner visa but I would have thought my 820 visa would have just been continuous until a decision is made for the 801...now after reading the booklet, i'm doubting everything...
  2. Thanks! I just realised I forgot to ask her if I need a bloody bridging visa when I leave Oz I have a feeling I just stay on the 820 until the 801 is (hopefully) granted but not sure, that means another day-long phone call I bet!
  3. Thank you very much for the document, I tried to tirelessly navigate myself around the immi website but to no avail, so what you have provided is very useful  I think you are right when you say they don't know what they are talking about, every person I speak to there always says something different which doesn't help when you just need a solid answer! Not really loving the fact that the timeframes have crept up too, that can't be helped though sadly. When I asked the girl if me being out of the country would upset the decision at all, she just said 'Hmm, shouldn't do...'. Brilliant.
  4. Hi guys, Bit of an update albeit not a great one....so I gave in and rang immi today as my eligibility date was 7 months ago tomorrow, I knew deep down they probably wouldn't have any update and after being on hold for 1.5 hrs , I was right. So all she could tell me was that my application was still being processed, that was it. She did however say that the current wait times for 801s had now increased to 12-15 months I told her that I was worried as I will be going overseas in 4 weeks time, she advised that you have to be in the country when the 801 is granted so now I'm very, very concerned.... Hoping me going abroad won't affect the decision and outcome of my application....who knows
  5. Thank you very much for the help, I was hoping that I would have heard something by now Will just hope everything is fine and will hear something soon
  6. Hi people, I haven't been on here for a little while so apologies for that! I do now however have another 801 question so I thought PIO was the best place to come My eligibility date for the 801 part of the application was 13th April, they have had all my documents since 18th March. I believe the processing times are still 6-8 months, I am at the 6.5 month mark and still haven't heard a thing... I am going back to the UK at the beginning of December and now i'm concerned that I wont have it before I leave....does this matter? Can the 801 be granted whilst I am out of the country? Do I need a bridging visa to leave and return on? I did ring immi a couple of months ago and the guy said that its fine to leave on the 820 as I will continuously be on that visa until the 801 is (hopefully) granted....he didn't convince me though, sounded like he just wanted to get me off the phone (surprise surprise...) Anyway, any help and advice would be amazing Thanks very much and have an awesome weekend !!:wink::tongue:
  7. Thank you for the info, I know the Immi website certainly states 6-8 months but on other forums people seem to be waiting longer than that. Fingers crossed.
  8. Hi, Has anyone recently handed in paperwork for the permanent 801 visa and been told the current waiting times? The immi website says 6-8 months but i'm thinking that may not necessarily be accurate.. Many thanks
  9. Hi, I am about 3 months away from receiving paperwork from Immi for the second stage of the 820/801 visa, I wanted to ask about the Police Certificates...are they valid for 6 months generally? I was going to apply now as I think they takje about 3 weeks to come through but didn't want to apply too early in case they are only valid for 3 months etc.. Also, does my current 820 visa technically expire on the 2 year anniversary of the date it was origihally granted? Will that be the date that Immi ask for everything by? Just tryng to get everything together now so I don't need to rush at the end. Any info would be brilliant, thank you.
  10. Hey All, Quick question...does anyone know if it's ok to use the same family members/friends that wrote stat decs for the first stage of the 820/801 visa? Thanks so much!
  11. Hi there, thanks very much for the help and confirmation, we had a feeling that we may need lots of pics so have already started gathering them together Hopefully I will also just need to the Aus certificate, I was started to stress over how I was going to apply for another UK one from over here!!
  12. Hey all, I am brand new to this so bear with me (!), I was hoping someone would be able to give me a little help/advice with a query I have.... I am nearing the end of the 2 year period for the 820 visa and hopefully in a month or two Immi will write to me and request relevant documentation etc...the question I have is about the police clearance certificates, I have been in Oz for just over 2 years now and came over on a Prospective Marriage Visa, before being granted this visa and entering Australia I obviously initially sent my police certificate to Immi with all UK addresses I had resided at within the last 10 years, now that I have been here for 2 years - will I need to repeat the process of getting another UK certificate (with exactly the same info as they already had previously) or will I just need to apply for the Australian Federal Police check? Any help or experience on this matter would be gratefully received and appreciated  Thanks!
