Hi. my friend lodged her husband's 457 subsequent visa last Feb 2017 but until now no word from DIBP? What could be causing the delay? What is the current processing time for a subsequent 457 visa.
Also the primary 457 visa is a 457 Pork Industry labour aggreement. My friend wants to know if she has to wait 4 years to apply for PR or if she can lodge PR prior to the 4 years. She wants to avoid having to renew her 457 which will be on the short term list under the new policy. Her current 457 will expire Sep 2020

My friend is planning to lodge a secondary 457 visa for her spouse he s currently working in Japan and has been there for 2 years so we assume he would need a Japanese police clearance. My friend has the following questions: 1. Japan police won't issue a clearance without a letter of request from DIBP. Does DIBP automatically send the letter of request for Japan Police clearance or do we have to write DIBP to ask for this letter? How long after lodement of the dependent 457 visa could we expect to receive this letter of request for Japan police clearance? 2. We heard that the Japan police clearance will come in a sealed envelope and addressed to Australian Immigration. Since visa applications are lodge through immiaccount, are we allowed to open the sealed envelope yo scan and upload or do we have to physically mail it yo DIBP?

Hi, do we need to have our documents certified true copy email r a scanned colour copy of the original document is enough to attach. Also do we need police clearance for secondary/dependent's 457 visa?

your kids do not become citizens until you become a citizen. So although they do not have to physically attend the ceremony, their citizenship is dependent on when you become a citizen. They will not get their citizenship certificate until you have finish attending the ceremony yourself.

My friend's husband is the primary 187 visa holder and he is now eligible to apply for citizenship but his wife who holds a 187 dependent visa who is not yet eligible until next year due to the residency requirement. What happens to the wife's dependent 187 visa when the primary 187 visa holder becomes a citizen? Since the primary 187 visa will cease, will the wife's dependent isa also cease? What will then be the status of the wife in Australia?

Can the Form 1195 (identity declaration form) be signed 2 weeks before eligibility date for citizenship or do I have to wait until the day I am eligible to have it signed? My friends lives in another state and I have to mail the forms to him. I wanted to have everything ready so I can lodged as soon as I become eligible. Also when I logged in my immiaccount today it says that there have been issues with attaching documents for citizenship in pdf format and they recommend the jpeg format. how did you attach files with multiple pages in jpeg format? Is there a way to combine multiple pages in one jpeg file such as the form 1195 which is 2 pages?

Thanks Sarah2016 and Nemesis for the reply. Another quick question. Do we have to apply for an Australian Penal Clearance ourselves or does DIBP do it for us? If we have to apply ourselves, do we apply to Australian Federal Police (just like what we submitted for our Permanent Residence application)?

For the proof of address, is a foxtel cable statement or a bank statement acceptable? our electricity bill and water bill is not in my name so I cannot use those so I am planning to send my Foxtel cable bill (is this acceptable)?

This is off topic but I am preparing for my citizenship application and I am wondering if the photo requirements for citizenship is as strict as the photo requirements like for a passport application. Form 1195 states passport-sized photos but does it mean strict compliance to the guidelines set for photos used for passport application? I am thinking of taking the photos ourselves instead of having to go to austpost to get photos. Anyone here whose photos have been rejected for citizenship application?
