oops, my bad, for a moment I was thinking about Townsville, not Toowoomba. I did some uni vacation work in Toowoomba, can't say I know enough about Toowoomba to vouch for good/bad suburbs.

Lived there for six months. anything close to the yacht club or the strand is very good but expensive. lots of cheap student housing. avoid the night club district
