Contributory Parent Visa. Our visa application started in May 2013. The process has been delayed by 6months from a time table issued by D.I.B.P which was for 12months. This has resulted in myself having to undergo a further medical. Our 2nd payment notified on the 15th December, required within 28 days. Payment by Bank cheque or credit card. Try getting a Bank cheque and posting over Christmas so resorted to credit card , no problem if you are happy to pay the credit card surcharge of + A$ 900. The good news is that the visa has been granted 19th December, sit back relax enjoy a celebratory drink. That didn't last for long because the application has been so long in the queue we are now required to make our initial arrival in Australia by the 2nd week in March. I couldn't believe how many flight are full for February 2015. So much for 12months and by the way the visa will only be good for 4years after March not the 5 . Having said all that we are relieved that we are nearly ready to go, just the problem of selling our house, wish us good luck. For all those waiting hang on it does come to and end eventually the worst is not being able to get any proper information from the Department on your situation.
