  1. Thanks Eera - that's good to know. I was with the same company for over 13 years before I came here so hopefully that's a big positive.
  2. Thanks for leaving me to it. You're not really helping and you're just being insulting.
  3. "I gotta say, moving and planning a wedding in three months whilst not working doesn't sound like a big deal to me" Read it again slowly and, yep, I came to the same conclusion. Never been out of work before and it's a bit soul destroying, to be honest. I don't think I am going overboard - just worrying that someone won't be able to understand the gap. That's all.
  4. Bungo - Ha ha! WOW. Moving to the other side of the world, living with the in-laws, planning a wedding in three months, looking for somewhere to live and moving in, looking for work and getting my head round how things work here generally all add up to multi-tasking to the max to me, so your comment that it looks like I can't do more than one thing at once is a bit insulting, if I am honest. Actually, your opinion is what I am worried about from employers who might look at the gap and think the same thing. But there you go. Suzukicottie - thanks for the supportive words! Hoping that employers look at it the way you have. x
  5. Thanks for your reply! Just been reading a lot about gaps and how employers don't like them so probably just worrying a bit too much about it and adding it to my general 'must get a job soon' and 'does anyone ever acknowledge job applications in this country' frustration. x
  6. Hi everyone! I need some advice on how to tackle the gap in my CV that's getting bigger and bigger due to the fact that I am still looking for work. I moved here in January. Last month I started doing some freelance work in a related field to my normal career (in which I have 15 years experience) which I have added to the CV. But that still leaves a 7 month gap I need to account for. I certainly haven't been sitting on my bum all that time! I came here on a prospective marriage visa and planned a wedding for over 80 guests in just three months whilst also finding somewhere to live and moving in. (Wouldn't recommend doing all that together, by the way! It was very stressful.) Plus there was looking after wedding guests from England, preparing the next stage of the visa as well as job hunting. How did you explain your gap in employment - if you had one? Any tips gratefully received! x
  7. BecWortho - yes he must have phoned because of the time restriction on the PMV. Thats what i thought. I have never spoken to him before. He has an American accent i think, by the way. Not that it matters but it was interesting, nonetheless! I am about to give my notice in but needed for my own piece of mind to have it in my hand before i did anything rash. Thats just me! I totally feel your pain. For the last 18 days i have been quite depressed waiting for ANY news. Its such a bizarre feeling - knowing you have so much to do but not being able to do anything! Now for proper wedding plans to begin! Xx
  8. If anyone is over 8 months waiting and thinking that they shouldn't email their CO - DO IT NOW!!!!! I emailed my CO this morning at 8 months and 18 days to inform him of a change of address and ask politely how the application was going - to which he replied "Thank You"...he's never been much for replies but this one sent me over the edge. "Just give me something - please! I'm dying here!" I burst out crying...thinking that's it, something's wrong. Then, about 5 mins later, I notice a London phone number calling me. I nearly didn't answer I was so upset! But it was the CO on the line - "Would i like him to issue the visa today?" Erm, yes please!!!!! Just received it by email - I have it! I am so happy! 8 months and 18 days later I got my PMV. Hope everyone who's waiting gets theirs soon! xxx
  9. 8 months and 17 days now waiting...... :err: I think the waiting is sending me a bit mad. Does anyone else have DP as their CO? I know partner visas are being granted at the moment - but has anyone seen any PMV's given out?
  10. This is a message to all of you waiting alone - whose partners have already gone. My PMV application went in on February 11th. My fiance left England, however, in early September 2013. I am not coping well. How are you dealing with this truly bizarre and upsetting situation? xx
