  1. I've moved country a couple of times now. I make a large OSB box, that fits on the plastic pallet, and fill that with well packed, heavy duty cardboard boxes. No breakages so far. Pallets vary in size - a Euro Pallet is 120 x 80 cm, and you can stack to 1.8m High including the pallet. UK pallets are around 1100cm square, same height. A Move Cube is an OSB box on a pallet.
  2. Looking into shipping over our personal effects and my workshop tools to Brisbane. The cheapest way by far is to box it up, and load onto pallets. I can get two pallets shipped to Brisbane docks for £250 with Pallet2ship.co.uk who I used when I moved from Germany back to the UK. The question is - can anyone recommend a customs broker in Brisbane? I've emailed a few for quotes but the prices vary greatly.
  3. My partner and I would like to move to Tasmania. My partner is Sigaporean is a qualified international school teacher (early childhood) who gained her degree in Australia. She worked for a year after graduation in Australia in her profession prior to moving back to Singapore. As far as "points' go, she sails through. For me it's a little harder. I am British, a self employed maker of musical instruments and have been for many years. Whilst that skill certainly isn't on the "skills list" both joiner and carpenter are, both of which I could do, though ideally I would continue with working for myself making musical instruments. Questions are: Would it be better for my partner to apply for one of the 457/189/186 visas, and for me to tag along as her de facto partner? Or should we apply separately, her as a teacher, me as a joiner? If we went for the joint application, with me tagging along as her partner - an additional person on her application, and the visa was granted, what would I be allowed to do/not do, workwise? Thanks in advance for any help given.
