  1. Hi Ken, can you help? ive been in oz for 6 years now. got PR in feb this year. so will be applying or citizenship feb 2017. am I right in saying I cant leave the country for anymore than 3 months in this year leading up to citizenship? Im wanting to head to the snow for a few months ( Canada) but don't want my citizenship clock to reset if you know what I mean. You seem to of just got your Citizenship - congrats sbtw!! can you offer any advise? thanks
  2. Ive done my fair share of time... Was a week off of a year for my PR. But if I only left for 3 months in that 12 months period it would still count ? If I do the whole 5 months away my year as a PR will reset and start when I get back after the season? Does that sound correct? Just trying to understand it all, thanks
  3. Hi all hoping someone can help. I've recently got my PR but now have the opportunity to go and do a snow season in Canada which is for 5 months. Is it still the case that to get your citizenship u have to live in oz as a PR for 12 months and not leave for longer than 3 months? Going into my 6th year living here so I know it's only 12 months as a PR but by me doing this snow season its going to delay my citizenship by another year is that right? Can anyone think of a way around this ? Here is home and I'd like my citizenship ASAP but don't want to pass up the opportunity of A snow season Thanks
  4. I did not know I could get demerit points on my UK licence! I thought it was just the fine. I was wrong! I have just transferred my license to a NSW one and had a shock! I have to drive for work so its a good job I know about them now. Don't make the same mistake guys!
  5. my oz one is still valid from where I got it for my PR and my uk one was done on 29th jan 2015... apparently they have no expiry? and obviously I haven't lived in uk in last 5 years so thinking I can submit that one? really need a no. I can speak to re the Canadian visa side but all I can find anywhere for contact us is frequently asked questions...
  6. all my life in uk and now 5 years here but only became a resident 2 days ago. I had both police checks last year for oz and uk for my PR application but I think they are only valid for 12 months. There is no where to ask / no no. to call or email its all just frequently asked questions and this isn't covered. Can anyone help???
  7. Hi guys I have been chosen out of the pool to apply for a WHV for Canada for this coming snow season. Problem is when I applied I was technically a UK resident- even tho lived here for 5 years. 2 days ago I got PR and became a OZ PR. Canadian immigration require a police check - do I get one done for oz or uk? help im on a timeline !!!
  8. JUST GOT PR!!!! so happy 6 months and 2 days with no word. ENS applied 18.2.15 Approved 22.7.15 Visa applied 8.8.15 Approved 10.2.16 !!!! Best of luck to all the wait has been horrendous but totally worth it! cant believe today was my day
  9. Originally arrived on a WHV Oct 2010. Got to travel this amazing country in a campervan for 6 months- one of the best experiences of my life. Its amazing how free you feel not knowing were you will park up each night and how happy you can be with only the most basic simple things washing up and showering at beach showers! After that I joined hostel life- which was a crazy time as you can imagine. I was fortunate to get sponsored in my first year and put my application for PR in last year( still waiting mind!) I live in beautiful Manly NSW and absolutely make the most of the beautiful beaches. Yes oz is expensive and yes its a long way from family in England but I have had the opportunity to do things I only dreamed of. I swam with whale sharks on the Ningaloo reef, I drove across the Nulaboor Plane from Adelaide to Perth. I did a sky dive. I because a qualified scuba diver off Rottness Island WA. Ive done Tough mudder, Ran the City to Surf, Competed and placed in a fitness modelling competition and found my passion for fitness. I wondered if I would have come across that if I stayed in the UK? . Although it has been hard to get used to saying goodbye to friends over the years as they move on. I now have friends that have the same passions/ interests as me. We have learnt of a greater world that what we grew up in. I often get homesick for my family and wonder if im doing the right thing and don't get me wrong I have had my challenges to and many times wanting to just go back but this experience has made me a stronger person. I must say its rather nice to reminisce on just how many amazing things this country has brought into my life. My best friend from Uk visited for my bday last year and she brought me a locket with a map of Manly in one side and London in the other. Pretty much sums it up, I have 2 homes!! x
  10. Same reply not yet allocated a Case Officer. Nom 18.2.15 Approved 22.7.15 ENS visa applied 8.8.15 Status Application received PR.......... waiting
  11. Hi how long did you spend in oz? how long have you been back in the UK? my god if anything happened to my mum I would move back in a heartbeat no contest. so you moved back for family? find everyones experience's very interesting
  12. I guess when the day comes for children that might be a decision maker. My best friend here and her partner (both English) have a little girl. I help them as much as possible as they have no grandparents/ aunties uncles etc to help them. I can not imagine having children being so far away from my mum. Its so crazy you only have one life so make the best of it but at the price of being so far away from your family. Also you only have one family..... hmmmm
  13. It Is mad how you get abit over the sun and heat. Probably wont be saying that when im in the depths of UK winter! But then we have Xmas:) honestly feel like I haven't had a xmas in years! That's my biggest fear that one day my mum will look old and ive missed out on years with her. Although she is incredibly supportive and tells me to keep living that dream. Totally agree with you on the price of everything! I feel like I live month to month here which by my age should not be the case (29) Friends wise I feel I have far better people in my life here, they have become my family and I cant imagine leaving them. Would I have as much in common with friends in the UK now we have taken such different paths. God it is so hard! Congrats that your so close to citizenship. I am a long way off that yet
  14. I honestly have that catch 22 feeling everyday. Amazing life down under or family back in uk?? Been here 6 years this year and love it, hopefully will have PR soon ( hopefully weeks away now- have been waiting for 6 months! ) then going for my Passport. But honestly does this feeling ever go? I feel selfish for being so far away and the thought that my family wont be around forever is horrible but how do you decide where to live? In a weird way I wish I hadn't left and I wouldn't know any different. But will that day ever come where im ready to say goodbye to my amazing friends and the beach lifestyle? Any advice? or experiences?
