  1. You could look at pimpama and ormeau too. Some good schools around there aswell. Bit cheaper than helensvale and coomera but lots of new housing options. Give us a shout if you have any questions about that particular area. We built a new house in ormeau and my partner is a nurse too
  2. Hi there. We live just north of helensvale in kingsholme. Helensvale is definitely a good spot - access to the beach is good especially with the new glink and good access to motorway if you need to get up to Brisbane. We have a child but she's too young for school yet. But I think there are tons of good options.Give us a shout if you need any help.
  3. Hi there we live in kingsholme and I commute every day via train to Brisbane. From Ormeau station it is 56 minutes into central. At rush hour there are plenty of express trains - approx every 8/9 minutes then dropping back to every 15 minutes off morning peak. They run every 15 minutes during afternoon rush hour. Driving would be horrendous into Brisbane. To be faster than the train you'd have to avoid the morning rush - it backs up around tenah merah/springwood from about 7am. Parking in and around Brisbane is expensive. The train is the best option - less stress. Not sure about insurance industry roles... Kingsholme/ormeau/pimpama are other options. Only a touch further north but you're near ormeau station and lots of young families in those areas. I heard pimpama was the fastest growing suburbs in the country now
  4. Interesting - we considered buying as loved the area but a house was far too expensive for us and didn't want a unit long term. You're right about it being weird but in a good way! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Yeah it's probably vulnerable if there's a bad flood but they have have learned from what happened in 2011 it seems. They upgraded the pumping systems in the basements of a lot of the unit complexes and you have some great quality units down there with great amenities like huge swimming pool and garden areas - renting is very affordable in these places too Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. We lived in west End by the river and it was lovely plus you don't need a car down there. Thoroughly recommend west End! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. We lived in Sydney for 2 years and decided to move to QLD so we could afford to buy. Spent 2 years in west End and built a house in north GC and moved in July - haven't regretted moving for a moment it's been a great move for us. It's probably not everyone's cup of tea is the GC. We are still 30 mins from the beach up in ormeau but it works for us as we both work in Brisbane: Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. We are game if anyone else is? Aim for 7pm at the pig and whistle eagle street? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. We would be interested. How about one Friday/Saturday night end of this month/beginning of Feb? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Hi Hen - we are at west end. 29 and 31. My partner is Irish. I'll send you a PM Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. Hi folks Sounds very familiar! We are also in the same situation. Been in Brisbane a couple of months and lacking on the friends side. Would be great to meet over a drink or two. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Hey Anna Just moved to Brisbane ourselves and really like it so far. I've had a bit of living experience in Adelaide, Melbourne and Sydney (now Brisbane) and they are all great for different reasons. I'd definitely recommend visiting if your budget allows. I think Brisbane is a great option for the next few years particularly if your income is in the modest to average range (like us) as you'll find property is still affordable. IMO Sydney and Melbourne to a lesser extent have become unaffordable for the average family or person looking to buy. Brisbane has a great climate, isn't too big but still has plenty to do and you have the choice of the Gold Coast or Sunshine Coast for amazing beaches about an hour in each direction. Happy to help if you have any more specific questions
  13. Only a dollar? Quite reasonable for a phone ho.....
  14. Tony, not sure. Have you asked your mam? I heard she knows about taking a load up top
