Hi I arrived in Melbourne on Marhch 1st. Applied for my Tax file number on 3rd March 2014. got a reference number . But its been 21 days and i still havent received my TFN number. I called their office and they told me they can't locate my details in their system. Im worried if they still cant locate my file, im quite sure i wont get my TFN within 28 days which will complete on 31st March. I have started workng and my first payroll is due on 4th April. I will be taxed at 46.5% if i dont give them my TFN by 3rd April. This is so ridiculous on part of ATO. I heard my friends in OZ got their TFN within a week and here i am following up with them every week but they cant help until 28 days are over. Please help and advice what should i Do. Kanika
