  1. Maybe I am reading something wrong. I talked to a MARA agent and he told me that their is no work experience requirement with the 457. Though when I read on the website looks like I do need. Still figuring out.
  2. Hey. Thanks for the response. I was having a detailed look at the 457 visa requirements which is actually the one you apply for when you get sponsored. For people from India who have an Australian qualification there is a requirement of 3 year professional work experience with the qualification and provide employer statements for the same. I do not have that. It looks like a mandatory requirement. All these people you know have that? The information you have provided is of great help.
  3. Thank You. What if the certificate 3 is from Le Cordon Bleu? I was reading the work sponsorships norms though. It mentions that if you have an australian qualification you need another 3 years of work experience. I was looking into temporary skilled 457 visa. I have no experience in culinary as this is something I plan to start now. The 3 year experience requirement would make it very difficult.
  4. I have been told that the student visa rules are also stringent now. Has there been any recent changes in the student visa rules? My visa comes under non streamlined visa processing. The visa agent told me that it is difficult for me to get a student visa as I have a different background (have IT background). My profile might show that I am at a high risk of immigration. I want to go for a culinary course basically certificate 3 from le cordon. She also said that to get sponsored and work is difficult for people after certificate courses. Is it true? Does anyone have any knowledge about the same in culinary industry? I wanted to apply for PR alongside the culinary course (in IT skillset) but I am not sure why it is being suggested that I will not get a PR. Is there specific rule regarding that? Thank You.
  5. Could you please explain what rule is this? It will really help me out a lot.
  6. Hi, I am planning to go for a certificate 3 in commercial cookery from LE cordon bleu. I talked to an agent here in India who handles the student visa process to a lot of universities. She told me that getting a job and sponsorship is very difficult after completing certificate 3 or diploma. Is it true ? Are the chances of getting work bleak after completing certificate 3? Also I am applying for my PR alongside. She said that I shall not start the process for PR before I apply for student visa. That will give an impression that I am a possible immigrant and hence I would not get the student visa. Is that true? Then what would be the right time for me to apply for skillset? Thank you for your help in advance. please let me know if anyone has correct information. It would really help me out a lot.
  7. I talked to a MARA registered agent and she told me that it does not matter what you are doing now. Your education and experience matters till the point you have submitted the skillset application.
  8. Thanks everyone for the replies. So what do we conclude here? Are we not sure or we think that there would be an issue if I would be doing a course in something else while applying for my PR or it will be fine if I apply for a PR while doing another course which is unrelated to PR skillset? Thank You.
  9. Hi, I am based out of India. I have a B.Tech. in Computer Science and 3 year work experience in IT industry in India itself. 1. I want to apply for PR. I talked to a consultant and she said the minimum work experience required for Asians to apply is 4 years. Is that true? I don't see it mentioned on the website though. 2. I want to do a culinary course from Australia. I was thinking of going on a student visa and then apply for PR (skillset: software engineer) along as the course goes on. The consultant (based out of India, runs a office to help people with visas for australia) said that if I am doing an unrelated course and apply for PR in a different skillset it would affect my application. Is it true? Sounds logical to me. Please let me know if anyone has some insights on these two queries of mine. Thanks You, Priyanka
  10. I looked for the PR option. I can do whatever I want then with a PR. Can study or work or whatever. I need to know what are the practical timelines of getting a PR? I will complete the EOI by say March end. Then how much time can I expect will take to get a PR?
  11. My profession or studies is one amongst the skill sets. I think I can get the skilled independent or state sponsored visas. I guess that is done by registering on the point based system test on the immigration website. But how it works further then? I will be employed by the government or I wil be working independently on a private basis. like self employed.. ? Thanks for the help.
  12. Hello everyone, I am planning to move to Australia. I am a software engineer by education from a very elite institute in India (Indian Institute of Technology Delhi) and have worked for both finance and software industry for three years in total. I want to do a part time culinary course from Australia and I can work along side (in either IT or finance). I am planning to get a part time job say maybe 4 days or something. I wanted to know what kind of visa would suit for the part time work and would I be able to study while being on that visa? I like the option of the work visa and then study part time with it better than being on student visa and work part time (20 hrs per week). I see that the software engineer profession is amongst one of the skillsets. Thank you so very much, Priyanka
