  1. $2100 dollars was the price I was quoted and that was cheaper than the almost 5K from another agent that uses this site a lot. Ridiculous money to pay somebody to fill in the dots for you.
  2. A different conversation for a different day, thanks..
  3. So I have decided to apply my 457 visa without the help of a agent. I'm trying to get as much help as possible without actually paying for it (from you guys and another forum) so any help is appreciated and may actually save somebody else reading this a few dollars too. My main reason for wanting to do it alone is that my employer decided to do all his parts alone and I couldn't justify paying over 2k just for filling out my own forms (maybe I'll regret it, who knows) I'll keep this thread updated so other people might get a idea of the whole process. Right, so my employer applied to become a sponsor a few weeks back as he never had sponsored anyone before, this got approved a few days ago. He wants to lodge the nomination this weekend and he's taking care of this himself.. On my part, the very first question on the Visa is.... For applications relating to a standard business visa please enter one of the following.. Sponsorship transaction reference number (trn) Business sponsorship agreement num.. Where do I find my TRN? I'm guessing this is completely different than my employers TRN..
  4. Ok from talking to my employer the last couple of days he doesn't want me to leave after 6 months so were going to go ahead an try and get the 457. But he has never sponsored anyone before so we don't know anything about it, are we best off getting a agent or could you do it yourself?
  5. I meant the 6 months deadline rather than the Skills assessment, I should probably have been a little clearer
  6. I'm not trying to get around doing the Skills assessment, I'm trying to find a way that I don't have to leave my current employer after 6 months as I'm on the WHV. It would seem that the best way to do this is how blossom79 described.
  7. If we were to go for the 186 visa Direct entry visa.. I would still have to get my skills assessed by TRA, but I still can't get that assessed by the 6 months deadline on my WHV so how would we get around that?
  8. 100% the reason why I'm asking on here, I didn't ask him for advice as we were just chatting as he mentioned it...As I said I know whats involved with the 189 visa but i have never looked into the others. My problem is I don't want to leave my current job after 6 months so if I can go about getting a PR visa another way while avoiding having to get a band of 8 in ielts I'm open to options! I'm just about scraping enough points as it is to get 60 with a band of 8.. My job is on the skilled list, so any more info anybody has with whats involved with these other visas would be appreciated!
  9. I have over 12 years experience but in the last 36 months, I wasn't paying tax all the time (I was for 5/6 months, the rest I was working for cash) after working in Oz for a bit I would be able apply for the 189! But my problem is I can only work for my current employer for 6 months but i want to stay with him long term..
  10. You need it to get your skills accessed by TRA.. And yes you have to provide proof, tax etc will do.
  11. I'll start off with some info about me... I'm here in Syd about 6 weeks on the WHV and my plan was to apply for the 189 skilled visa in a few months time as my job is on the list. But to apply for the skilled visa I have to have worked 12 months out the last 36 in paid employment to get my skill recognised by TRA (I only have about 5/6 months because although I was working at home a lot of it was for myself and others not on the books, so it doesn't count) I have over 12 years in my trade.. So my plan was to work away over here an make up the remaining months and then apply for the 189.. But I'm after landing a really great job with a awesome employer and on the whv I'll have to leave him after 6 months.. But if he was to sponsor me now i wouldn't have to leave him (he has already suggested it to me, if he can, as he is unsure to whats involved because he has never done it before either) If I was to get sponsored by him whats involved with moving over to PR at a later stage? Just I was in a taxi on the way home the other night and was talking to the cabbie about it and I was explaining how I needed Ielts 8 to make up the points and he was saying that getting PR after sponsorship was much easier! I understand exactly how the 189 works but if someone could please explain this for me it would be much appreciated!
  12. Hi, just posting in here so i can find the thread again as I also need superior English... Kinda bricking it too because I left school at 16 to start a apprenticeship and never really sat a proper exam, after doing a few practice ones online I'm fearing the worst! Although I'm far from dumb I just don't word my answers like the way they do on some of the practice papers I've seen.
  13. Ok that's great news, although I wouldn't be in position to apply until later in the year. is that 11 from the start of this year or when did it start? Is there a way of knowing?
  14. I was looking at the ceilings for my occupation 'painting trades worker' The ceiling is 3120 and the results to date was only 11.. Is this a good or a bad thing as 11 seems low?
  15. Hi I don't mean to hijack the thread but rather than start a fresh one! I was looking the ceilings for my occupation 'painting trades worker' The ceiling is 3120 and the results to date was only 11.. Is this a good or a bad thing as 11 seems low?
