You do not need to be currently serving in the British army to apply under the lateral transfer scheme. There are plenty of people who have been out for however many years that still get accepted. It's worth a try. They can only say no.

Being me I would always jump at the chance to go somewhere different and live somewhere new. I'm sure you will enjoy the uk very much, job wise I suppose it depends on what you do and where you end up. I am an army wife based in Germany and it can be very lonely. In the past 24 months my husband has been away for 20 of them. So far as I gather navy takes them away far more frequently and for longer. Being a forces wife is really hard work, if you are willing to take it on then I wish you all the luck in the world.

Oh my lord I can't believe anyone could find a female Afrikaans accent sexy! I used to live in South Africa and I always hated the way it made women sound so harsh. And remember Afrikaans was voted the sexiest language...... After sign language according to whack head. i think I like a Geordie accent best.
