Hi, Is anyone able to advice on applying for residency? We have a 457 visa, we arrived in January and wondered if there was any benefit to applying for residency as my wives employer sponsored our move, we were advised to go for 457 due to timescale for my wives new position starting. We are considering buying a property shortly and would like to hear from others about there experiences. How long does the residency process take on average? cost of residency application? potential saving to be made between 457 and residency? many thanks

Hi All, Does anyone have any experience of primary schools in the Campbelltown area? We are moving to the area in January from the UK, as my wife takes up a post at the Capbelltown UWS campus. St Peter's and Broughton schools get the best English and Maths results in the area, but not sure if there will be too much emphasis on religious studies. My eldest girl will turn 5 in March, so will be able to start kindergarten at the end of January. We are looking for a school with a good balance of community feel and academic studies together a selection of extra curricular activities options. many thanks M

Hi All, We will be moving to Sydney in the new year and wondered if it would be best to replace some of our electrical items in the UK or buy new when we arrive in Oz? Our TV and DVD need replacing, would a UK TV work in Oz, I presume it would be able to pickup terrestrial channels, as from the brief internet searches I've done, TV's are cheaper in the UK, but it would take 3 months to arrive due to shipping which will be covered by our sponsor which means we would need to rent one on arrival. Any guidance or recent experiences would be great. cheers

Hi All, Can anyone recommend areas near to UWS that are family friendly with good infant/junior schools, but with reasonable commute to Sydney CBD? We have 2 girls aged 2 and 4, so this would be a high priority, my wife is applying for position at UWS. We have heard that Camden is a nice area, but would welcome other suggestions. thanks
