  1. Thanks for your input everyone, I really appreciate it! Our washing machine is arriving today (until now we've been using a laundrette), so I will definitely try the extra rinses and reducing the amount of powder used. I will ill also keen an eye on other things, I.e is it worse outside or inside, using sun cream etc. it's very hard to isolate what you're reacting to when your whole life has changed.
  2. Hi, I've been in Sydney for 2 months now and mostly loving it... apart from 1 thing! I am prone to small amounts of eczema/sensitive skin and since I moved here it's been worse. I am pretty sure I've narrowed it down to the washing powder. Even when using the hypoallergenic versions my face/eyes still react. I never had this problem with washing powder in the UK, so thinking of trying to import/buy some British washing powder. Does anyone have any advice on where I might be able to get hold if this, that's not too expensive? Has anyone suffered from the same thing and has any other advice on treating? Thanks in advance
  3. Final question - as the 457 visa is dependent on my employer, if I did have a baby and take time off work, would I make the 457 invalid?
  4. Cool, thanks for the quick and thorough reply!
  5. Thanks that's very helpful. We don't have a family at the moment, so more just forward planning! So even after 2 years and paying tax, we would not be eligible?
  6. Hello, I am new to the forum as I have just signed a contract to work in Aus and will be moving in February! I am coming on a 457 visa with my employer and my question is about maternity rights. Currently my company does not have a maternity scheme in Aus so I am interested to know if the state will give me any rights with regards to time off/money. If so what are the criteria? i.e. how long do I need to pay tax/work in Aus to be eligible? Thanks
  7. I am due to move to Aus in February next year! It is likely to only be temporary (2-3 years ish), will I be allow to take my Super out as a lump sum when I leave?
