Ah my bad, since OP mentioned his relative is in Adelaide I assumed he is state sponsored via SA's chain migration scheme.

The entire SA is considered regional and since you have a 489 Visa (which is regional sponsored) and your sponsor being in SA, then you're required to stay there only if you intend to apply for permanent residency later. Since one requirement you need to satisfy for the bridging visa is to reside within your state sponsor for at least 2 years. Hello, So after a few months I finally got a Skilled Regional (Provisional) Visa (subclass 489). However, I've been having difficulty finding work due to my lack of local experience. I have a relative who might be willing to offer me some help with training or apprenticeship so I can get some local experience for better employability, however my relative is in another state. My question is, since this is not going to be a paid job but more of a training, would this be allowed with my visa type? According to http://www.immi.gov.au/visas/pages/489.aspx - I should "live, work and study in a specified regional area of Australia specified regional area of Australia". There is no mention prohibiting me from going to another state for training, so I wonder if this is allowed. I do not plan to stay there for a long while, just for a couple of months to train if the visa allows me to. Thanks.

I am not sure about that, but in my case they did check my background. My supervisors as well as the HR of our company was contacted by VETASSESS to verify my info.

Hi everyone. I am applying for a 489 Visa in WA. So as a requirement for WA sponsorship, I need to have at least $20,000 for settlement fund. I have a relative who is in another state in AU (she's in SA) and she will be the one to provide funding for my settlement. My question is, is it necessary for this fund to be directly on my name in bank? Because we are hoping to avoid the inconvenience of transferring the money on my name as she is in AU atm and I'm not. If perhaps it would be allowed if she could just sign a sworn affidavit attesting her financial support? Would appreciate if anyone can answer. Much thanks!

Hi everyone. I received a positive result for my VETASSESS skill assessment, but I am uncertain as to how much points I can claim for work experience. I applied for assessment for about 5 years work experience. On the summary page however, this is what was written for the duration of employment: "Based on the evidence provided, at least two years of employment is assessed as highly relevant to the nominated occupation and completed at an appropriate skill level in the five years before the date of applying for this Skills Assessment." This is where it gets confusing, because on the other page where it mentions my Skilled employment, they assessed all 5 years of my employment and this is written: "The following claims of skilled employment made by the applicant are assessed as employment of at least 40 hours per fortnight which is at an appropriate skill level and closely related to the nominated occupation." So now I'm really confused how much points I can claim for my application. Will really appreciate if someone can shed some light on this. Much thanks!
