  1. Hi Would it be possible to have an update with feedback on the move? It would be most helpful to have feedback on things like: -how would you rate the service of the mover? Why did you go with them? Is the mover on the Australia end a contractor? What was the service from the Australian end, any problems? -did you use storage at the UK or Australia end? -what was the final cost$? -how much time did it take for: packers to pack your belongs; your goods to arrive in Australia; your goods to be delivered to your new home? -did everything arrive? Anything go missing or broken? -what was the time period from your arrival in Australia to your goods arriving in Australia? -having gone though it and learnt much, what would you do differently if you were to do it again? Any advice from someone who has survived a UK to Oz move is very much appreciated. Thanks ever so much.
  2. Hi, I would like to know the maximum number of months from the date of my arrival in Australia that my personal goods can be classified as 'unaccompanied personal effects'? I am living in London. I would like to get the packers in to pack my flat up and place all the boxes in storage in England. I would then go to Australia. After being in Australia for some time I would then request the storage company to ship my stuff to Australia. Looking at the Australia Border Force website I could not find the maximum number of months after I arrive in Australia that the storage boxes can be classified as 'unaccompanied personal effects'. Nor could I find at what month do they change from 'unaccompanied personal effects' to 'importing goods'. My aim is to avoid the 'importing goods' classification as it seems customs duty and GST are charged. I am an Australian citizen. I prefer to use storage in England. Any information, tips or ideas most appreciated. Thanks.
  3. I am seeking clarity on the Lifetime Health Cover and the UK Australia reciprocal healthcare agreement and have two queries I am hoping a reader may have knowledge of. I am a British citizen with dual Australian citizenship, over the age of 31, residing in the UK and intending to move to Australia permanently. Thus I will be entering Australia as an Australian citizen. My queries are: 1. Will I be covered under the UK Australia reciprocal healthcare agreement and if so for what time period? 2. How much time will I have until I incur the 2% loading on the purchase of my health insurance? I want to avoid using the 1094 days without health insurance incurring the2% loading allotted to each Australian citizen as I may need those 1094 days at a future point. I have contacted the NHS regarding my query (response was to contact the Australian High Commission), the Australian High Commission (response was to contact Medicare), Medicare (did not respond to any emails I took from the medicareaustralia and humanservices websites and when telephoned could not provide an email or telephone number for someone knowledgeable in the area) so I would be grateful for any information. With thanks
