  1. thats great your visa was granted, im sure you cant wait now to get flights etc sorted and get out to your new life. did you get your location confirmed yet? you going to roma? are blacks getting you sorted with place to stay for a bit? when you think you will be making the move, did you need to wait on your visa to be approved before getting date to go? (Sorry for all the questions im just interested as its the same employer you are going out to work for) thanks

    brisbane move - social work

thanks Quoll my hubby works for Civil service so he can take a Career break, I unfortunately would have to leave my job we intend on renting our house out A) for having the security to fall back on & B) we are in negative equity so couldnt sell even if we wanted to!! we thought we should try because we have the option of doing both these things. the employer originally offered my hubby a extremely rural location but we decided it wasn't for us as we felt it would be too isolated being 4 hours inland and 9 hours away from Brisbane, they have since offered him a different location 3 hours from brisbane and the coast??? we are thinking this would be a good stepping stone??? we am scared we will regret not trying it but also scared we will regret trying too and putting ourselves and our little girl through such an experience and costing alot of money!!!!

    brisbane move - social work

hi ladies sorry to jump on the band wagon but i was so interested in your posts and i wanted to ask a few questions..... my hubby and i are also from Northern Ireland and have been to oz twice in the last 5 years, moving across was something we've wanted to do since we first stepped foot in Melbourne........ since then we had a beautiful daughter who is starting primary 1 tomorrow anyway my hubby has been offered a job with a company from rural queensland, who will get him 457 visa, the only problem is we are so undecided about what the future holds for us, now it could be reality and not just a dream the fear has kicked in and we don't know what to do for the best, especially for our little girl!!! like you said lou, support network at home is great and also taken for granted, our daughter has loads of cousins around her and is happy with her life and we wonder how we would cope if it was just the three of us??? also we never thought we would move with just one child and we didn't want her to be lonely, but for reasons beyond my control we are in a one child situation and don't want to let it control our future plans and stop us from possibly making the biggest exciting move of our lives. the inch is there and we are worried if we don't scratch it we will regret it in later years!!! like anyone who dreams of oz we would like close to good schools and shops and nice housing and preferably close to the coast but as the job offer is in rural queensland we are unsure if it will be living the dream or if we should use the opportunity to get over there and experience it. huge decision but life throws these curve balls and we need to make a decision either way soon before it completely drives me nuts!!!! (sorry for rambling)
  4. hi rowneee thanks for your info, how are you finding dealing with blacks regarding visa.... not sure if its just them or an oz thing but doesnt seem to be any urgency on getting people across - my hubby was orginally offered a post back in April, but turned it turn due to location, but then they offered him another position and again it seems to be dragged out. are you excited about the move? where are you moving from in the UK? have you family going with you are is it just you going out? thanks
  5. sorry apologies i should have stated.... chinchilla, roma, dalby (that area) thanks
