  1. Yes you can buy and register a car on a UK license, as I have done this 2 years ago when I arrived in Mandurah WA. Just put your UK driver number in the box but write UK licence beside it, and paperwork all came through a few weeks later. You will however need a WA address to be able to do this and access to the mail which arrives. Alan
  2. We had all our furniture packed on 11/07/13 and have been given an expected arrival time on 6th September, so thats about 9 weeks, subject to good weather, then clear customs after that.
  3. Yes fully qualified on light vehicles for 20+ years, and 5 years experience working on heavier vehicles Alan
  4. We have shipped bikes, patio table & chairs, Ride on mower and a camper van, which were all scruplessly cleaned. The container is due to arrive 6th september, so hopefully all is clean enough, will let you know how we get on.
  5. Anyone know of any jobs as above, will also consider farming, labouring or machinery operating. I'm 44 healthy and fit, car owner, permanent resident just arrived from Ireland on a 190 visa. I have my white card course completed, waiting on card to be returned, a tfn number, and am doing my HC licence at the end of the month, Have you any thing to offer? I'm in the Mandurah area but willing to travel. Pm for my number. Thanks Alan
  6. Hi all, I'm Alan and my partner is Charlotte. We have just moved to Mandurah from Armagh, N. Ireland. We've taken 3 years from start to finish to get the visa sorted and used PSS as a removal company. They in turn used McGimpseys, who were very effecient and careful. We chose to move absolutely everything inside the house with us, and glad we did after seeing some of the prices over here. We filled a 40ft high cube container with household belongings, ride on mower and old VW campervan at the cost off £8,000 including insurance and chemical spraying to help with quarantine regulations. We arrived 2 weeks ago and the container left at the same time and should arrive 1st weekend of September. Even though we did a lot of pre-planing, there were still a few surprises, renting a house is very difficult, as most houses are through agents who require proof of income, Oz bank accounts, TFN numbers and ref from an Oz landlord, things most new arrivals won't have. Anyone with more than a car licence is buggered, I have a bus and HGV lorry licence in N.I. but only entitled to a car licence out here, I am resitting my lorry test next week at a cost of $1850. Other than this Mandurah is beautiful, winter here at the minute, 18 - 23*C during the day (although it has rained for 2 days of the 2 weeks we've been here) If we can share any of our scarce knowledge with any of you just ask. Alan & Charlotte Ps don't get a Dodo phone, internet or mobile as they will not let you ring UK but thats another story :arghh:
