Hi Everybody I am an admitted solicitor in E & W and am looking to move to Melbourne soon. I have already been granted a visa as I also hold a teaching qualification. I want to re-qualify as an Australian lawyer but was wondering if anyone could shed some light on job prospects in Melbourne as a paralegal and the possibility of sponsorship to re-qualify. My background is in high-street law such as Family Law, not corporate. Many thanks

Hi I would like to transition into a career in HR. I have already had visa 189 granted and am going to be moving to Melbourne. I was wondering if anyone had advice on the best way to go about it. I understand that I will need to start as a HR Assistant and then work myself up. Any advice greatly appreciated. thanks Grace5

Hi Just wondering if anyone can help with this question: if someone who is a teacher has a 189 granted and can't secure full employment, can they do some other job in the meantime e.g. an admin job or some job as a gap filler - is that permitted on a 189 visa? Sorry if. This seems like a stupid question, just would like to know in case of worst case... thanks

Thanks Wolvesaussie for sharing your (& your girlfriend's) experience. Yes, I guess I am feeling the pressure at moment. It's always the same with advertised jobs, in UK too, often they are just going through the motions, when they already have someone lined up. It's frustrating though. Just got to keep looking and hoping, although I suspect I may need a back-up plan, just to earn some money until I secure something full-time/regular. I think you're right though, it will be worth it.
