Hello guys, Usually skill level 1 and 2 requires a bachelor degree but what about senior managers occupations (skill level 2) assessed by AIM (Australian Institute of Management)? For example, Supply and Distribution Manager (133611) which is skill level 2 occupation and given in CSOL. Does it also requires a bachelors degree for assessment? AIM said on their website (FAQs page) as follows: Q: I have many years experience as a manager but no formal qualifications. Will my request for migration assessment be successful? A: Educational qualifications are not mandatory in order to gain a positive skills assessment. Applicants should check the Criteria as to the level of management responsibilities required. http://www.aim.com.au/migration/faq.html#5 On criteria page for Senior Mangers they said "To be assessed as Senior Functional Manager for migration purposes, an applicant must: Have a proven record in a senior functional management position over a continuous period of at least three (3) years, requiring the delegation of authority directly to three or more subordinate managers each of whom hold positions requiring the delegation of work to three or more subordinates in managerial, supervisory or technical positions; Hold the most senior management position within the applicant’s functional area of responsibility within the organisation; Report directly to the Owner of the business, Corporate General Manager, Chief Executive Officer or Managing Director; or report directly to the Department Head if the applicant works within the public sector: or provide consultancy advice as a Senior Management Consultant to client organisations at the level of Corporate General Manager or above; Have the decision making responsibility, through delegation to three or more subordinate managers, for a range of specific responsibilities in the applicant’s functional area; Be wholly responsible for achieving his/her functional responsibilities within the organization; Have had a proven and successful experience in a broad range of managerial responsibilities prior to being appointed to the top functional position. I have associate degree (2 years degree) which is not equal to australian bachelors degree but I have 12 years exp in management position. Am I fulfilling the criteria for Supply and Distribution Manager (133611). Thanks in advance.

You were right Pumpkin, I received following reply from Vetassess today. "In a full skills assessment, both qualification and employment will be required and only accredited academic qualifications can be assessed. Additional years of employment cannot compensate for the lack of relevant qualifications." I clearly misunderstood the situation. Thanks for correcting me. However, I have a another situation/confusion. Hey Diane, what about supply and distribution manager? Do people under this category have job market?

Is there any one here (or know someone) who got the positive assessment without a bachelor degree under any occupation based on his/her exp?

Yes, its a big "MAY" but how will I know for sure? Who do I contact for answers, a consultant/agent or the assessing authority which is Vetassess? If Vetassess wants a bachelors degree for production manager assessment then it should be the standard requirement for every production manager assessment OR if bachelors degree is not binding if one have +5 years exp then it should be the same for every assessment under 133512. Right? OR do they evaluate the requirement of degree for each individual separately? Or is it depends on the assessing officer? I mean one assessing officer may require a degree but other officer may consider experience for the same individual? what is the policy?

Noted, but on immigration site, it says "This occupation has a level of skill commensurate with a bachelor degree or higher qualification. At least five years of relevant experience may substitute for the formal qualification. In some instances relevant experience and/or on-the-job training may be required in addition to the formal qualification (ANZSCO Skill Level 1)." What does that mean? I mean the part which says "At least five years of relevant experience may substitute for the formal qualification." I though it means, (+5 years) experience in highly relevant field is a substitute for bachelors degree requirements. Which is clearly misunderstood by me. Can you please explain that point. Thanks

I intend to submit my skills assessment application to Vetassess as production manager manufacturing (133512) for migration purpose (through state nomination). However, I have little confusion about assessment process and need to ask couple of questions. I hope you will be kind enough to answer these below questions. 1. I have a Associate degree as per AQF standards and my occupation (133512) requires a bachelor degree or higher. But someone told me that at least five years of relevant experience may substitute for the formal qualification under this occupation. Is that true? I have total 9 years of experience, so is it possible for someone to get positive assessment based on experience (+5 years) without any formal qualification under this occupation? 2. If above is true and suppose I get positive assessment (based on my experience) and get full experience points then would Vetassess also consider/evaluate my associate degree and will I get points for AQF Associate degree as well? HI All, I applied for Accountant category at CPAA but got a negative assessment. I have 2 years bachelors degree and a membership of Pakistan Institute of Public Finance Accountants (PIPFA) but they are considering both my qualifications as equal to AQF Associate degree therefore I did not met the initial comparable criteria. However, now I intend to apply for internal auditor category at vetassess. But I fear that I will get the same assessment from them too. Any advices?? One more thing, do vetassess give positive assessment on CIA membership. Is CIA treated equal to AQF (Australian) Bachelor Degree? Awaiting your positive feedback and suggestion. KR, Eddy

Dear Mirwais, Thanks for your feedback. Is the criteria for assessment is same in each accounting body or is it different. As you mentioned a point difference between CPA and IPA. I also want to mention on thing. I contacted IPA and they told me that my qualification APFA (professional membership) will not be considered in assessment as it is not listed in (AEI-NOOSR) guidelines. However, ICAA has told me that they will consider my APFA qualification and also B-com for assessment. Strange, is in it? Eddy

Dear Friends, I have few questions regarding the assessment of qualification for ANZCSO 221111 (General Accountant). I have a B.com (2 year degree) + membership of professional accounting body (APFA-Associate Public Finance Accountant). Will CPA/ICAA/IPA will consider my one qualification or will they consider both qualification together. I covered some subjects (out of required 9 subjects) in B.com and some in APFA. I passed B.com in 2002 and all exams of professional accounting body in 2005. APFA membership requires 3 years experience in Accounting and Finance and passing of all exams. I gained 3 years experience and become eligible for membership in 2006 but I did not apply for membership. Stupid decision, but I was so happy with my current job and did not feel necessary for membership. So if I apply for membership now, will my whole experience of 7 years (2006-2013) will become invalid for skill migration program?? Because they only count experience after the qualification. OR will they count it because I was eligible for membership in 2006 but I did not apply, that is something different?? Really looking forward to your advice. Thanks, Eddy
