I've had a quote from Jet Pets today and it was just over 3k including the carriers. I've also been told that I can't put my two cats in together unfortunately :-(

Trying to organise getting our two cats back to the UK from Perth at present and I'm a little confused about whether you can just book them directly on the flight yourself or if it's compulsory to use one of the over-priced pet travel companies like Jet-Pets? I called Emirates and they said I had to use Jet Pets but I haven't spoken to any other airlines as yet. What exactly do these companies do that I haven't already done myself?

Does anyone know if you can put two cats into one extra-large carrier? Will that affect the cost at all?
