  1. Thank you so much Ozmaniac for trying to help with my query, but actually, after emailing Centerlink several times, eventually got this answer from them : The answer to your question is yes. Your daughter, who is not the assurer, can be the joint account holder with your son-in-law to open the AoS bank guarantee. So there I have it! Thanks again Oz.
  2. Can I ask a question please. We are well into the process of contributory parents visas, we've had our med/police checks and our son in law (our AOS) is trying to get an appointment to go to Centrelink for the interview. My question is :- does the a/c at the Commonwealth bank for the $14000 have to be in his name only, or can it be in both his name and my daughter (his wife)? She doesn't work so is not able to be our AOS. I am just trying to protect the money (our money!!!) just in case the worst happens and they split up, or anything happened to him (g-d forbid) in which case at least my daughter would be able to access the money at the end of the 10 yr term.
  3. Really DMJG I had no idea that you had an allowance, $900 should sort it. Thanks all
  4. Hi all I was thinking of buying a new hoover to take with us when we emigrate to Perth in a couple of years, I know you have to pay tax on anything under a year old so that's why I thought i'd get it now, but then I read that it has to be over a year old...and used!!!! The whole point of getting a new one was so that I didn't have to clean it to within an inch of it's life!! but if I have to use it then i'm back to square one!!:arghh: I've bought bedding and just washed it and added it to all my other older bedding but there are other things that I intend to buy now and keep, like a clock and wall art thingy that matched the bedding...that sounds weird I know but trust me it looks lovely!, should I keep receipts to prove the age? or will they see they are new and charge me? Thanks for listening!!
  5. Thanks Clairebear82 He did say he'd send the quote by em so i'll have a little haggle and see if he will go lower. I was actually thinking of John Mason as I've seen others on here say they've used them, so now that you have told me they were a better deal for you I will def give them a ring.
  6. The fella from Anglo Pacific has just gone and he was really nice and helpful...but the quote was higher than I expected I must admit. He suggested we need a 40ft container, and that was without the car!! so I think I might have to cut back on what we take!!! because all in all it will cost about £10,000.00. I think I will get some other quotes too. Thanks for your help Rupert and George D.
  7. Hi there Just wondered if anyone has used these removal guys to emigrate to Oz?? We are getting them in to do a quote for us but tbh I can't remember where I got their name!! so I don't know how good they are. Anglo Pacific International Plc 5-9 Willen Field Road Park Royal London NW10 7BQ
  8. Wolvesaussie, my insurance here in the UK is Approx £190, maybe it's so reasonable because i'm an old(ish) lady?? and been driving for several years, not sure if it'll be so cheap in Oz.
  9. Peach, We are emigrating to Perth, Does the Mot apply there do you know??
  10. Hi all We are trying to find out whether the cost of running a car in Oz is the same as in the U.K, I:E- M.O.T, Road Tax, Insurance. We are thinking of bringing our 1 yr old Ford Fiesta 1.25 ltr with us when we emigrate. Any info will be appreciated.

  12. Hi all Just wondering how in depth are the medicals?? I:E is it blood pressure, blood tests, medical history...or is it x-rays and M.R.I scans etc as well?? We are only 9 weeks since our application but are interested to know what to expect.:twitcy:
  13. Wow BB that web-site is full of info. I'll have to spend some time on that one. Thanks S
  14. Thanks for all the info. S
  15. Hi fio78 Oh hope all goes well for your move. Who are you using for the move? Like you I am tempted to stockpile but, as previous people have said, we may have to pay duty on new items so that worries me a bit. I hope you don't have to for your new dining table and bed. S
