  1. Not sure what you mean. If you arrange the meet up, you set the rule. If other people arrange the meet up, you follow their rule. Isn't it the case?
  2. I've used http://www.interstate.com.au/ to move from Sydney to Melbourne, then from Melbourne to Brisbane, then from Brisbane back to Sydney. Their price is quite reasonable. I always bought insurance. Some small damages were done. It is unavoidable when you move. I did claim money back really quickly.
  3. Try this link http://www.propertyreporter.com.au/. They provide very up to date information. It is great.

    Bushfire Ready

I was in Brisbane when Queensland flood happened. I was never in a disaster zone before, so it was quite scary. Now even I live in Sydney, I bought an emergency radio, have got candles, etc. But it is so easy to be complacent again. If you live close to the bush or go to the bush often, better pay attention to the weather forecast. The Bushfire season is still to come.
  5. As long as you don't work during your stay in Australia, don't bother. The concept of Australian resident for tax purposes is different from PR. You still pay tax in your own country.
  6. Read, read and remember. That's the only way to go. Once you get familiar with them. Books look thinner.
  7. Buying a house at $750k is challenging in suburbs close to the CBD. You probably will have to live 30 or 40 minutes away from the CBD to get that price. North Sydney and Eastern suburbs are expensive. But the lifestyle is good. There are good schools. They are family friendly, safe and peaceful. South Sydney is cheaper with more cultural mix.
  8. There are a number of groups for expats from the UK. You can find some at meetup. There are also locals you can meet, who can give you lots of good tips. Sydney is great. Great weather, nice beaches, great food variety. Hope you enjoy it.
  9. If you want to meet people, try meetup, they have various kinds of activities in many places. You will meet both locals and expats. They have a lot of information to share.
