Thanks for the replies, we was worried about the cost of living and exchange rate but your comments have put us at ease a lot. We have never even been to Australia before so its a big step - we are good travellers and enjoy changes so we are not too worried. I am going to have all my equipment professionally serviced and cleaned before we travel so it should be clean. We are looking at Coogee as he is working in the CBD and I love the beach, anywhere else we should consider with good schools for a 13yr old boy and Karaoke mad mum?

My husband has had an offer to work in Sydney from July 01, scary and excited to take a 13 year old boy with us to the other side of the world! I am a dog groomer so I am hoping to be able to bring my gear over and work - husband is on a 457 visa. We are hoping for a place not too far from a beach, a pool is looking too expensive he will be on Au$165,000 - hopefully this will be enough. I would welcome any advice on locations etc for a family of 3. thanks.
