  1. My issue with immigration is that the company I worked for sponsored me in November, as soon as I got thee they made it clear they could not afford me, I had no equipment to do the job I'm meant to do for 8 weeks. I was then bullied into them trying to make me leave and when I refused they made me redundant, although the post was immediately re advertised. During my time there my wages were reduced to below the minimum standard wage and after I left immigration were never informed by them only I contacted immigration. The company breached my visa conditions many times but yet are still able to sponsor through this stream. I understand workers on a 457 are 'disposable' but I wish there was a safeguard against bringing someone over without the ability to pay their wages.
  2. Im 33, I've explored all possibilities to be allowed to work, apparently I just have to wait whether that means I wait homeless and food less is no concern of immigration. I truly wish I'd gone down the PR route to begin with.
  3. Thanks dxbox I already have done, to no effect.
  4. I have recently been in the same position. I came over on. 457 visa in November, from the beginning, I wasn't being paid on time or properly, and having days unpaid even when I was working. I wasn't paid any superannuation and it was clear the company couldn't afford me. I was given a pay cut to just $800 a week before tax (with no written warning)which when I pointed out was a breach of visa conditions I was told that I had to hand my notice in but first request 4 weeks unpaid leave. The company led me to believe that this was in my favour to increase the time I had to look for another job. I refused to hand in my notice so was made redundant that day. They wouldn't pay me any notice period as they said the wage cut was notice of my redundancy. I had to wait 4 weeks for any annual leave entitlement to be paid to me. I now have another job and a nomination has been submitted, however immigration have said it may take up to 3 months to process. I am desperate to work I haven't worked for 6 weeks, I have next to no money and no way of earning any. To add to the irony the company I was with re advertised my role and recruited on a part time basis, they also have never told immigration that I have been maderedundant and when I ask immigration about this and make complaints I am told nothing can be done. The 457 was definitely a huge mistake for me I do wish I had gone down the PR route to begin with.
  5. Hey, I've been in Australia for a short while working on a 457 visa. The company I'm with are having some financial trouble, I expressed that if they were struggling that I would have to look elsewhere for work to safeguard my future in Australia. As I did this I was asked to hand in my notice and be given 4 weeks unpaid leave. I'm not sure that if I do that I'll forego any of my rights on the 457 or what implications it would have for me staying in Australia. Any help would be appreciated
  6. Hey, You have to apply to AHPRA and they will give you an 'in principle' approval so you can get your visa. Then when you get here you will go the Brisbane AHPRA office show your paperwork and they complete registration within 2 weeks. You must have the in-principle approval before applying for the 457 visa. Hope that helps
  7. I'm also here on a 457 visa and I have private health insurance, I registered with medicare and then I tried to cancel the private health insurance and was told I could be in breach of my visa and the company would report this to immi. Obviously I didn't cancel after that.
  8. I thought so. I have to go to Brisbane before the 8th October to complete my AHPRA registration and they're being quite difficult about extending that for me. The last thing I need is to have to apply for AHPRA again.
  9. I know there are a lot of questions about the 457 visa however if someone could help me I'd much appreciate it. My employers will be applying for my visa from Australia I've sent them all the information and application forms etc which they have said they will deal with. If the visa is applied for onshore (even though I'm in the UK) would this mean I could travel to Australia whilst the the visa decision is being made? Thanks
  10. the company have a migration officer but I haven't had any contact with them.. It's really unnerving me.
  11. We didn't agree that they'd pay but they said they'd ask for my payment details when they were needed, I have emailed but had no response for about a week but the last time we spoke they said it'd take approx 2 weeks ...
  12. I'm getting a little disheartened at the minute. According to my employer my visa was applied for 3 weeks ago but I've never been given a tracking number or anything to track it myself. I've not been asked for payment so I'm really unsure as to what's going on. My contract in the uk ran out in July and I didn't want to apply for a new job as I was hoping to be in australia a few weeks later. Now I'm not sure what to do!
