  2. Thanks. We have secured a house in varsity lakes there wasn't really a lot so we have got a 6 month rental with a view to changing in 6 months. It also means our eldest can go varsity secondary college. Also love that varsity is so close to Burleigh. Thanks again wokos
  3. Hi, we have been here on the Gold Coast for 2 weeks now and we would love to meet up with some of the locals we are a normal (ish ) family of 5, hubby and I are early 30s, we have 2 daughters 13 and 3 and a son who is 6. We are loving the beaches and parks and everything the Gold Coast has to offer! Thanks wokos
  4. G'day :biggrin: We arrived a week today and we are loving it. We are staying on Nobbys Beach which is next to Miami. Our feet haven't touched the ground we have done so much. Hubby is busy speaking to Recruitment agents for work and all sounds optimistic so far and we have bought a car. So the only thing we have left to do is rent a house and pick schools. This is a bit harder than expected. There loads of lovely houses but we are struggling to find a decent/good high school. Could any recommend good high schools our eldest daughter is 13. We love Burleigh area but we need a good school first. Many thanks The Wokos
  5. Sorry to hear he is finding it hard to make friends. We move over at the weekend. Our daughter is 13, 14 in feb. I would call her normal we are looking at the Gold Coast but if we end up in north Brisbane we could meet up. Hope he gets on ok. The wokos

  8. Hi, 3 weeks today and we will be in Brisbane. We are all so excited i had to share. The kids are that excited they can't sleep. I was wondering do we have to tell the tax office that we are emigrating? I think I have sorted most of the other stuff out. Thanks Wokos x
  9. How exciting. Have a safe journey! We leave 3 weeks today xx
  10. We have now moved out of our house and living with parents and done most stuff. Getting very excited 3 weeks x
  11. Hi we move in 4 weeks and I hope to have our 13 year old and 6 year in school ASAP. So they can make friends. Also I think the teachers will help them more to settle than in February when the whole school comes back from holidays but that's my opinion. I would think you can enrol anytime no matter what their native language is. Good luck with your move. X
  12. Hi we had to get the form signed too. It has to be signed even if the father has no parental rights. I think the form was 1229 from memory. It just needs the father to fill it in and a certified copy of the fathers birth certificate or passport. I just sent a letter with the form asking for it to be completed and returned with the certified Id. I was told I probably wouldn't need it but it is best to have for future reference as well like someone said above. Wokos x
  13. My kids were only asking about this yesterday. We are staying in a hotel when we first arrive so we will have to miss this year and start trick or treating next year !!!!! Love Halloween
