  1. Hey everyone, would really appreciate any thoughts and opinions, my fiance and I are meeting with a migration agent on Wednesday this week to ask all this but thought it would be nice to get some thoughts on here beforehand as well. Our story well we met in the UK in February 2010 and started a relationship on 16th January 2012. We were living together from around March 2012 until he returned to Aus in September. I came over to Aus on a WHV in March last year, and I'm currently on my second until March next year. We have been living together in a de facto relationship since January this year and got engaged in February. My main questions at the moment are surrounding the police checks and the medicals etc. I have been reading about 'decision ready' applications where you give everything in at the same time and its a complete application and is then perhaps processed a little quicker. I'm unsure as to how I go about getting my police check from England as all I have found online is that an employer needs to apply for the check on your behalf, I'm sure you can get it another way I'm just not sure how to go about it or when. As for the Australian police check - I work in After School care and I have a paid Blue Card, which I was told is a police check and should suffice the requirement for one for the visa - is this correct? We aren't planning to apply for the visa until early next year as we are still saving for it (my fiance is a full time student with two part time jobs and I'm in casual work atm) and we are only 7 months into the 12 month living together requirement. We are planning to apply onshore. Another question I wanted to ask, which isn't really visa related in terms of the application as such. When I get permanent residency I aim to do my Graduate Diploma in Education (Secondary). I completely understand that I have made my decision to wait to be able to do this and being able to be with my fiance is my priority right now but it is SO frustrating. Is there anyone who could give me advice on how to prepare for it when the time comes? I'm trying to get as much experience as I can in the mean time and make sure I'm well prepared. It would just be great to find more things to do which help me prepare as I don't want to feel like I'm not really doing anything. I've got experience in schools, both mainstream and special needs, with children of different ages, I was an Au Pair for a few months last year, I've done tutoring. I've done a course in working with students with special needs and I'm currently studying a TEFL course as well. I know I have to wait for permanent residency until I can take this Graduate Diploma, I'd just like to do as much as I can in the mean time. Thanks everyone - apologies for such a long post - think I'm feeling a little nervous about Wednesday!
  2. Hi everyone, I'm currently in Australia from London on my second working holiday visa, I have been with my fiance for 2 years and 3 months and we are planning to apply for the de facto partner visa early next year. I want to become a teacher, I have a BA degree with honours from home in English. I would like to get some advice on the best way to go about this. Basically, I have a Skype interview for a few weeks time for a PGCE in Further Education at a college back home in London. If I get accepted and choose to go, I will have to leave Australia in August to be there for enrolment week. However this will mean remaining in England to finish the course until July 2015, so I would be apart from my fiance, aside from whatever visits we can afford. Another option is to stay here and apply for the de facto visa here and stay on a bridging visa until a decision is made on it. However, I assume I would still have to pay international student fees to do my Graduate Diploma here, and to be eligible for domestic fees I would have to wait until I get permanent residence which would not be until January 2017, I don't really want to wait that long though. Another option is to do a Masters degree in Special Education, I have found an online one with the University of Nottingham, I know I would not get funding for this but as it would be considerably cheaper than international fees here I would be happy to save for it etc. My question though, would I be able to register as a teacher in Queensland with this Masters? I've heard I could, as it would be a masters in Education, but elsewhere I have read that I would need some form of teacher training, which makes sense. I'm so confused and frustrated, I want to avoid being apart from my fiance again if I can, I'm really happy and feel like I've started to build a life here. Is there any way I can study and become a teacher here without waiting 2+ years/paying $27,000 for a one year course? Should I just go home and study there if I get accepted? Would I be able to register as a teacher over here with just a Bachelors and a Masters? I'd like to be able to teach in Europe later on also so I would need something that would allow me to teach there also, not necessarily in England. I'm feeling very lost, I just want to teach and be with my fiance Thanks in advance for any advice xx
  3. Thank you! I just saw this on the gov website too, The table below lists all postcodes classified as part of regional Australia for specified work. To meet the three month specified work requirement for a second Working Holiday visa, work must be completed in an area whose postcode is included in the list. The postcode for this place is on the list
  4. Hey! I'm moving to the Gold Coast this weekend, I've been here on a WHV from London since March and have been staying with family in Brisbane. I didn't have the $5,000 either and I was fine, they didn't even check! But yes, if your family are willing to say they'll be financially responsible for you, it should be all good Let me know if you want a friend! x
  5. Hey everyone, just a quick question about the second WHV, Is Carrara eligible?? The postcode is on the list, but it says Note: Excludes Greater Brisbane area and the Gold Coast. I'm supposed to be starting my farm work there this weekend and just want to make sure as this has made me a little worried. It should be fine if the postcode is on the list, right? Its 4211. (I worry a lot! )
  6. Hello, I was wondering if anyone would be able to shed some light on this for me. I am in a relationship with an Australian, we have been in the relationship since January 2012, and were good friends for 3 years before that. I am currently with him in Australia on a Working Holiday Visa until next March. I am looking for farm work to extend the visa so I can come back next year. We've been having a look at our future options, and have been looking at the partner visa. My question is this: I noticed on the character requirement form, they ask for details of any parents, brothers or sisters, such as names, addresses and such. I have two half brothers I don't speak to and haven't spoken to for years, its fair to say we wouldn't be on good terms if we did speak. I know the cities they live in, but thats all, so I can't put any addresses down. Will they find and contact my brothers to ask about me? I know I can't just not put their names on it, I don't want to get into trouble for not giving accurate/full information, but I'm worried as even if I don't put their addresses down, would they still be able to be contacted? and if they were, and gave negative statements, would this cause problems with the application? Thanks, Kerry
