  1. Another concern is that I am an Australian permanent resident but have been away from Australia for nearly 20 months. Will this make a difference in our visa application? It does not state specifically so on any of the immigov pages but would a CO see it differently?
  2. Thank you so much for your responses getting advice isn't the easiest thing! The reason we haven't applied for the defacto visa is that the sponsor must demonstrate that they usually reside in Australia. Being early 20s we have no houses or flats there and although I've recently been in the country 2.5 years I have been back in England for over a year now (albeit with full intent to return to Aus with Molly). So I can't demonstrate I usually reside in Australia. The reason why we want to get married in Australia is simply because Australia is where we want to spend the rest of our lives. My father currently lives in Sydney so accommodation wouldn't be a problem to arrange. I'm sure that once in the country finding a job again wouldn't be too much of a problem after getting in touch with old colleagues etc. Do you think this would work? Do I need to get to Sydney and set up accomodation of my own and a job before we send the application off? Thanks again, ryan&molly
  3. Hello all, We are Molly&Ryan from the Uk and we're currently seeking some advice regarding the prospective marriage visa. First a little info about ourselves. We've been together for two and a half amazing years now having spent a year in Sydney when Molly had a working holiday visa. I have PR so I'll be the one doing the sponsoring. After over a year back in the UK we're looking to head back to Aus and tie the knot. As I understand it the applicant must be off-shore at the time of the application but the sponsor does not. It mentions that the sponsor must be able to provide evidence that they can support the fiancé with money and accommodation for two years. SO what we're wondering is if I need to be set up in Australia with a job and accommodation before we send the application off? Or if I can be off-shore as well despite not currently having a set up in Aus? Obviously we want to spend as little time a part as possible but the guidelines for the sponsor seem to be a little ambiguous compared with that of the applicant so some advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks for reading! Molly&Ryan
