Partner visa GRANTED!! My other half's application was lodged in November 2012 and was granted a couple of days ago! wayhay! I'm Australian by birth and our daughter who was born in the Uk 2 years ago has citizenship by decent via me..and now my hubby has Permanent residency Good luck everyone! It feels like forever but you will get there!

im an aussie citizen as is our 2 year old daughter but we have live in the uk for all my life so have not worked or paid taxes in aus ever...waiting for partner visa to come through and we are moving to oz...how does the healthcare system work? with childrens jabs? checkups? etc would we have to pay?? need help as im clueless on this matter!!

So myself, and other half and our 2 year daughter and going to aus once his partner visa comes through (applied offshore in london in nov..still waiting) so we think it will be august/september time...we are gonna take just a couple of bags of clothes, toys for lil one, cameras and surfboards to travel initially....most likely in a van.......now what the heck do i pack!?? We dont want to be weighed down with all our uk pocessions until we have spent a good amount of time travelling around, figuring out where we like etc etc and hopefully having fun too! any tips of must pack items? tips for packing for toddlers? or even travelling with toddlers? help!! :err:

We applied for my partners visa in november and we are still waiting too! I was born in oz but brought up in wales so have dual citizenship, as does our 2 year old daughter...so we are just waiting for my partners visa and we can go explore! Im not too bothered about waiting atm as we have soooo much stuff to sort out before we leave!! im not panicking....yet anyway!!

My brother went out on a one way ticket and on a working holiday visa in november 2011...he is still there as he did 3 months fruit picking and got another years visa.....its not againt the law to get a one way ticket so go for it, especially if you dont know when/where you will be moving on to...good luck! :biggrin:

Hello all! I was born in Queensland but have been brought up in Wales for the most part of my life. My partner is British and we have a 2 year old daughter who has just been granted aussie citizenship by decent. I have always wanted to go back to land i was born oneday and after having our daughter we decided well we best do it before she gets to school age!! So the partner visa is in...lodged beginning of nov 2012 and we are now waiting!!! Tbh the only time we really think about it is when other people ask us...they ask when we going? where are you flying too? what will you do? where will you work? ....my answer I dont know!!! I am starting to think i might be mad!! We own a house here in Swansea which we are planning on letting out (not worth selling atm and we live in a student area so hoping for good rental) But we are going with just my Oh camera gear (he is a freelance photographer and runs a relatively succesfull business http://www.benwyeth.com if you want to nose and has been able to support me and our daughter...however if anyone has any info on working as a photographer in oz please share!! and also our surfboards, toys for little one and couple bags of clothes as we want to be free from posessions for a while to travel around...we'd like to buy a van on arrival so we have a roof and wheels in one! Im am beginning to feel nervous after reading through posts on this forum..about how expensive it is, etc etc.....we have little savings but are pretty good at living very frugally...i.d be more relaxed if it were just me and my partner...but with our daughter in tow i want to give her the best life possible! Any advice people can share would be greatfully recieved! How do full time mums cope with the move to oz? making friends etc...and is it even affordable? look forward to chatting and finding out more from others in similar situations :cute:
