  1. Thanks it just seems hard getting a rental and we'll have to move in 3 weeks as lease is up on house and the employer wants him there ASAP, were off in the morning to go and look at areas will take a look at Helensvale , a colleague who was born on GC said arundel and ashmore or somewhere is nice to , I love we're we live now but it's in the country and not much for teenagers oh the thought of going through getting another rental makes me want to be sick, thanks for posting x
  2. We have to make a big decision by Monday to move to GC, does anyone live in coomera or pacific pines areas that can give me honest opinions on living here and if the kids go to public local schools, the rentals seem plentiful here and it's close to nerang were oh has been offered job! Thanks x
  3. Hi we're moving to Gold Coast after living rural qld, any recommendations area to live and public schools please, I love where we live now it's so safe and friendly but not much to do for teenagers I've read so many old posts on internet my head hurts, honest opinions welcome x
  4. I put an application in for family assistance as the calculator on the gov website said we are eligable for rent asistance etc even though we both work, does anyone know how long from putting claim in to receiving money/letter it is, the lady at family assistance/medicare office was very unhelpful and quite rude, could do with a bit extra to buy uniforms after spending a small fortune on visa lol! thanks x
  5. wasnt asked for on our 186, i did start filling it out just in case but what a nightmare it is!
  6. Thanks heres hoping it will be granted soon for you and hopefully paramatta will take over some more cases as there very quick at the minute, fingers crossed x
  7. I really feel for you and others trying to make a better life for you and your families, as we did in 2012 we had nothing lost our house in uk and jobs and hit rock bottom, we took a chance and came on a 457, im not saying it was easy we let money off family for flights and shipping and landed with £1500. the 1st year was really hard a family of 6 all kids at school so expense for that, there were times we only had money left for bread and milk and im talking less than $5 till partner got paid which is thankfully fortnightly but we managed i got a job start of 2nd year and we have saved and saved it cost us $900 for skillls assessment, police checks here around $150 uk police checks around $200 from here for 2 of us, visa $8800 and meds $1892 and visa has just been granted. It can be done as were living proof of that, yes it is hard it also makes you thrifty which i was never before and very cautious as in no debt here no cc or loans we buy what we can afford, were now saving to build a home, weve yet to go on holiday or visit theme parks etc but look forward to that this year, i wish you the very best of luck and dont give up x x
  8. Hi don't worry you'll be fine we didn't have them done in Manchester as were in oz had them done in brissie on new years eve just been granted our visa today, we had blood test, xray and for the medical we had a nurse do weight, height, bp mine was 167/106 at time came down to 120/78 for doctor 30 mins later when I relaxed, eye test which was basically a pass if you could read the top letter and urine test. for the doctor we had to strip off and wore a gown they checked stomach reflexes pulses, bp, light into back of eyes, asked if any medications or hospital stays. for the kids they had them jumping on one leg, pull push type things, so don't worry best of luck x
  9. Visa granted  7:35 am Qld time this morning good luck to those still waiting we had our medicals done 31 st and they were sent to DIBP on 2 nd jan and it said on our application no medicals required, I've added that as I found any info helpful x x
  10. When I booked medicals the lady said as it's all electronic via emedical I don't need any forms bringing but on the email from case officer it said form for X-ray and medical is this due to some medibank centres not doing emedicals? Or should I complete paper forms and just take them? It's in Brisbane next week oh and anyone that has had them there we're did you park, thanks
  11. Thanks feeling better today, the nomination has just been approved and we've managed to sort finances out to do medicals next week, fingers crossed perm residency wont be to far away, cant believe how quick since lodgement, good luck for those waiting x x
