  1. youre not a pom!! do you have the right !
  2. G-day , would like to get some feed back regards tradies work in Melbourne , I am a carpenter in Tas thinking of moving states , would appreciate tradies thoughts on Melbourne. how easy is it to maintain working and any recommendations? thanks !
  3. Thanks Sapphire yes its not looking good, i have been trying every thing, but will keep on trying!
  4. hi crispy70 We are in Sandfly looking down over Allens Rivulet, a beautiful part of Tassie. There are way more expats here than what i thought, Awesome !! We will meet if a date is set
  5. hi coleraine64 , difficult question, if your after a medium size house nothing to flash on an average block then buy a house. i think its down to where you want to live country, beach or suburbia. yes builders are competitive and house prices are probably better! I bought a small house on acreage and i am in the process of building 2 extensions i think its down personal taste. I would use a draughts men for any plans , cheaper but no call backs for any questions the builder will need to work it out!
  6. some of the questions were basic, i needed to understand how things worked in Melbourne, obviously things are very different from each state( you said that you're self) A construction manager would ask for resume and references before any work would commence. Also kipper you never answered any queries that i had, you jumped on the idea that i am a novice. If you worked all day on Sunday, what are doing on here!!
  7. form work carpenters , framing carpenters , joiners- fit out, in Tassie its all one **** how long you been here!!
  8. hey kipper getting a little cocky now! 1989 city and guilds joinery and carpentry. Australia 5 years of aussie style timber framing and certified builder in Tasmania! I believe the tassie boys do the complete package not just handling of timber framing thats why their called builders! I will look after my self !
  9. my works include complete start to finish , on wages. due to less work here maybe things are named differently. What is involved lock up and fix.
  10. thanks Kipper2 , can you explain whats involved? eg footings, slab or is this all ready done and is it apart of a team. What is time frame ?
  11. Hi Kipper, thanks for inquiring on my behalf. Lock up and fix , how is this done in Melbourne, does this include slab/ footings etc. What is the time frame on works? Is this apart of a team? Where in Melbourne, need to get organised.
  12. thanks kipper2 The style of build is a major factor for carpentry and the amount of work on domestic builds. Thanks for that, maybe Melbourne it is, i have got a few weeks before i will becoming over. 18 % would have crippled me, ****! Are you a sub-contractor? yes you are right someone who is on the ground walking the walk, nice!
  13. what can you tell me about melbourne, is that where you are. Yes it would be cheaper but attracted to WA
