  1. Also part time needs to be more than 20 hours per week
  2. hi Toldo. Maybe speak to an agent for some more detailed advice. Though based on what you have said, would you not be best to apply as a social worker instead? Is the shop work related to your profession - if not then it won't be relevant for wcm I wouldn't think. You have to demonstrate qualification at the right level PLUS post qualifying work experience in that field. Good luck.
  3. Hi fellow welfare centre managers. Just a quick update to say that I got my 189 granted last week 24/2/16! Doesn't feel real. Hoping to make the move by July/August time to Melbourne. How is everyone else going? Anyone made the move over yet? If so, how did you go with getting a job?
  4. Sorry Ashley, it doesn't comment on the subject relevance for my DMS (Post grad diploma in management studies), just says below the required level and equivelant to a Aussie graduate diploma.
  5. Hi Ashley, my first degree is in the social sciences (BA (Hons) degree) and was considered highly relevant. I have 2 post grad diplomas, one is the DMS (diploma part of an MBA) and this was not classed as relevant I think and 'below the required level' (as was my other social science post grad diploma). I will dig out my paperwork and double check that for you. They want a 4 year/Hons degree equivelant to an Aussie bachelor degree. They also want you to have at least 1 years post qualification experience so your experience to date won't be counted. You'll need at least 1 year plus post degree to be able to claim relevant work experience points, and it will have to be at the required level for welfare centre manager. For example, I managed services for 14 years, and thought over the last 10 I'd get 8 years (exl 2 where I worked under the required 20 hours per week after I had my son) and they only assessed me for 3.2 years in the end. I think that was because in one of the management roles, budget holder wasn't in the JDs I supplied, and also, taking out the 1 year post qualification experience (although I completed my under grad degree in the 90's! Hope this helps. Lynn
  6. Thanks for that captain c, that's helpful for when I go to do it. Yes, I was aware of the date issue thanks. Will consider carefully, though definitely expect to be away by next December - well, hopefully...
  7. You sound very organised. And wow, business class and 100kg baggage allowance! Fingers crossed the house sells - that's my concern hence waiting to book flights. I'll look into the police checks tonight then.
  8. Hey mgreaves, I got my invite on Friday too and have lodged tonight. Still have documents to upload though and medicals and police checks to get done - waiting to be invited to do that. I think they ask you once you have co assigned, is that right? Leaving the doc upload for another night. We have our house to sell so putting it on the market in the new year. I'm not brave enough to book flights yet, though hope to be gone by mid August at the latest. Sorry i I can't help with the letter. How long have you been together? Maybe if not that long, it wouldn't do any harm. If not, I wouldn't bother. Do you have kids? If so, might not need a letter? Its all all getting real now. Where are you heading?
  9. Hi manicmum, yes you need equivelant to an Australian bachelor degree plus at least 1 years post qualification experience. Have a look on in vetassess or awca websites for more info, and anzsco. Good luck.
  10. Hi Welfare Centre Managers, well I got my positive outcome result today! So pleased! Lodged date with vetassess 12/6/15. The only niggle I have is the amount of years they have said are eligible -3.6 which only gives me 5 points, though I was thinking I'd just be short of 8 years! Still can't figure it out. Anyone have any experience of this, and if so, what did you do? Just go with it? If I accept this, it means I need all 8's in my ielts (results Friday coming), and if I don't get this then I'll need to re sit. Also, re my qualifications, I have a ba hons degree in public administration and management which they've said is highly relevant/at the right level which is great. However, I have 2 post grad diplomas in a relevant field, however, they've said that these are assessed at below the required level, and these have both been assessed as wquivelant to an aqf graduate diploma?. EH?! Do you think that they've got the wrong end of the stick on the post grads? I suppose it won't make any difference to the EOI will it? Thanks, LMR
  11. Hi All, I am new to POI and looking to nominate welfare centre manager as my occupation (work in social housing/third sector including health and support). Looking to see how some of you get on in the process. I'm looking to get my skills assessment done post restructure in April in my current org. Would anyone one be able to confirm ref employment references - stupid question, but do you need to get your hr/manager to make a statement re your skills/employment? To be honest, due to a merger etc, I was hoping to keep this under wraps until I got a positive assessment. The amount if paperwork seems overwhelming at the moment. so, what fields do you all work in currently? looking forward to seeing how you all progress. L
