    Self Employed

Hi Lynndloo, My husband done his nvq2 in 2006 so I'm hoping we can get plenty evidence from before and after then! I've emailed the tra to find out if they'll award points for it, as I'm sure another carpenter got 10. Its not £300 anymore unfortunately for us as we're going for a 189 visa. Its so confusing as it advises the TRA does the skills assessment but it is in fact vetassess So its £600 for the first paper part, then £800/900 for the practical/ technical part. So much dosh lol!Good luck xx

    Self Employed

Hi shellyk666 I know your post was nearly a year ago, I just wondered how you got on with your paperwork? My husband is self employed cis carpenter with an nvq and has sub contracted through lots of agencies over the years. So just wondered what evidence works. X
  3. Are you self employed Craig? Did you have any problems with the paperwork part? Do they give you a chance to get more info if they feels its lacking some, or is it a fail?
  4. Brilliant Craig, this is what I was hoping to hear!thanks bud
  5. Craig6686 I wonder if they ignored your nvq2 because you had a nvq3? Did you get points for your nvq3 then?
  6. HotWelder do you mean it was the nvq2 you got awarded points for?
  7. Yes I've searched everywhere and there's no answers? We need the points badly so will not do anything until I know for sure. Has your husband passed all his skills assessments?
  8. Thanks Cairnzees, sorry for the double post above guys! Did your husband have an NVQ2 and was he awarded any points for his qualification once he passed all his skills assessments?
  9. So once my skills assessment is passed and a AQF certificate iii awarded will I then get points?
  10. So one my skills assessment is passed and a AQF certificate hui awarded will I then get points?
  11. Hey everyone thank you so so much for replying, its sooo appreciated. Right I now understand we have to do both paper and practical skills assessment through both TRA & VETASSESS. My next problem is points.....we're short and need points from the qualification. How do we find out before we even begin if a NVQ 2 in carpentry with be recognised by VETASSESS and points awarded?? Once again thank you all. Ill be heartbroken if no appoints can be gained from this
  12. Hey everyone, My husband and i are hoping to gain a 189 visa and have just began the whole process of collecting information etc. Where I am confused is on the skills assessment? My husband is a carpenter and his assessor is TRA. They require you to send all qualification proof, payslips etc etc and only charge $300 for this with no practical exam,...... but other carpenters on this forum have paid £1000 to VETASSESS to do a practical exam and interview? What i don't understand is why one requires a practical and one doesn't? Do the people who do VETASSESS not have any physical paper qualifications or certificates, hence why they have to prove their skills practically? I just do not want to send of all this paperwork and NVQ's etc to TRA to find out we then have to pay £1000 to be VETASSESS assessed as well? Also once you have passed your skills assesement are you awarded points for your trade to boost your over all points score? Any info would be greatly appreciated!
