  3. Just some timeline info to share. A colleague of mine had his 187 visa granted yesterday. It was DRC, submitted on 21/12/12 in Perth. I was only a couple of months behind him in the process so hopefully that bears well for me.

  5. I know. I'm still very early in the process but i have a watchful eye on the progress of 2 of my work colleagues visas' as they are a couple of months ahead of me. I'm using them as "test case's" although it would seem pointless as it appears the appointment of CO's and granting of visas' is very random at times.
  6. I use Moneycorp and have found them pretty decent to deal with. I imagine all of these companies are fairly similar though. Remember, if you're transferring a reasonable amount, you should be able to negotiate a better rate if you talk to one of the salespeople.
  7. My family and i have been living in the northern suburbs for a couple of years and are very happy. Good transport links to the city, a good mix of Aussies and ex-pats so there is an element of familiarity. I wouldn't say it's particularly lively though, closer t the city may be a better option but generally comes at a price. Cost of a relatively new average condition 4 bed house i'd say between $450 to $500 per week to rent. You could pay more or less depending on the suburb and standard.
  8. Good experience on the 457 for us. Myself, wife and the 2 kids have been on it since June 2011 and are going through the process of obtaining PR through my employer (RSMS). We haven't found it restrictive and it definitely offered us a cheaper, fast and easier route to Oz. I see you're coming from the UK so you should be entitled to reciprocal medicare which is good. This may not be relevant, but bear in mind that if you are planning on seeking finance (car for example), the length of the finance agreement can only be within the term length of the visa (based on my own experience). Good luck.
  9. How often to the DIAC release updated info relating to processing times and where they are up to in the back log? The last one i can see is from 4th March. Is it a monthly thing or just completely random? Any ideas?
  10. I think you're right RBP. I recently received "acknowledgement of a valid visa application" and there is a section on there entitled "Your entitlements to Government Services". It goes on to say that i may be entitled to Medicare and Centrelink benefits etc.
  11. Sorry Blossom, i should have made it clearer. My MA told me to send a scanned image of the envelope and gave me a firm warning not to open the envelope.
  12. Hi RBP. Yeah, i nominated my own address and then sent the scanned copies to the migration agent.
  13. Ours arrived in the post 5 days after the medical. That was from Medibank in Perth.
  14. Mine took 6 days from receipt of email to the AFP clearance arriving in the post. I'd say it is fairly imminent.
