  1. Hey I'm also in the same boat. I've just moved into a shared house in Surry Hills. I'm def up for meeting up with people and making some new friends in Sydney. Lets arrange a meet up!
  2. I got a free assessment from them and have met them several times at expo's. I've found them friendly and helpful. But I've not used them to obtain a visa as I am initially entering Oz on a working holiday visa.
  3. I have an NAB account and have not left the UK yet. The London team can set up internet banking for you. In fact, I've even been able to get the NAB app on my iphone and can log into my account. Can't do anything but see my accounts but thats all I need right now. The team set it up in under super quick less than a day fro me sending the request to me setting it up with my passwords etc.
  4. Arriving Sydney 15 August! Staying at Base for a week then who knows after that!
  5. I took an Iphone with me last year and I wasnt alone- most ppl will have some sort of gadget with them be it a laptop, phone or tablet. Its useful for banking etc so you know only you will have access to it rather than using a free pc at the travel agents. I'm going on a whv in 3 weeks and will be taking my phone and a mini laptop.
  6. Hi Dan I'm leaving on 12 August (from Brum) and staying in Sydney. I took a 60l backpack when I went travelling last time and it was plenty big enough. This time I'm taking a holdall that opens like a suitcase from eastpak- mine was half price from blackleaf.com. Plenty of choices for backpacks but id recommend one that opens up and not a top loader. I had the former and found it super useful for finding things. You'll be fine on you're own. Cairns is an awesome place- Tully is cool too. You're gonna have a fab time
  7. Hi Looking at moving to oz.... I'm an NQ and wondered whether any of you had decided to cross qualify and whether you are still working in the legal field. Thanks
  8. Hi Robbie I'm arriving in Sydney on 14 August. Staying at Base for the first week and then looking for somewhere a bit more longer term. Also on a whv. I'm def up for going for a beer. I was in Aus last year for 6 weeks backpacking and going for longer now. You're gonna have a fab time.
  9. LOL! I'm glad im not the only one who has been watching the rates and got excited today! I'm travelling in August and hoping it rises a little bit more!
  10. Hi Congrats on taking the plunge in applying for your visa, I'm in the same boat, not a uni leaver but leaving on the whv in August. I stayed a lot on hostels last year and you will be surprised by how many late 20-somethings early 30 somthings are actually on the road. In terms of picking some where to live- you can do both and you know what you-ll definitely go backpacking at some point. You're right about the first rule- its meant to be a working holiday not a working hell!!! Good luck
  11. I got free visa through STA and had to book 5 nights at base- I've been looking at weekly rate hostels near the CBD till I find a job. Thanks for the link
  12. I'm arriving on a whv in August. You wont be traveling solo for long..... just say hi to people they will respond!
  13. Hi I stayed at YHA central last year it was a really good hostel, free wifi if u hang out in the luggage room. I'm heading back in August and having to stay at Base (so i could get a free WHV. Not sure where i'll be moving to afterwards.
  14. Hi I'm going to Sydney on a WHV in August. Does anyone have any recommendations for accommodation? Thank you
