  1. thanks Ali I thought it was anywhere you lived for 12 months during the previous 10 years so that's a bonus.....getting anything out of Cyprus is going to be a joke ATM. ok I will await medical in Aus as I don't want to waste funds. And i will be honest about the ADHD it'll show up in blood tests anyway I guess! Just was wondering if it would affect the visa application at all.....
  2. Hi, not sure if anyone can help me..I am hoping to come to Australia on a De Facto visa..but I have a few questions....... 1. With regards to Police checks, I lived in Cyprus for 3 yrs as a UK military dependent (in the sovereign base areas) will I need to get a police check from Cyprus, Or SBA police check, both or neither? 2. Can I get my medical done in UK before I get to Oz (I'm hoping to do an onshore application) or will I just have to re-do them in Oz? 3. Will having a son with ADHD hurt application? How will they know if he has this or not?? many thanks in advance
  3. Hi, I think I am moving considerably less than all of you (but still too much for excess baggage). I am hoping to just be able to use a small move cube..... pic just want to bring DVDs, kitchen equipment (moulinex and so forth) kids bits and pieces and some clothes couple of smallish tvs, no big items at all. I am ex military so know how to pack for myself and I have access to packing stuff. Has anyone just used the small move cube? Just wondered if it fitted lots of small bits into it.....
  4. I just read the guideline and it says...... Both partners will be required to bring an approved from of identification present at your interview. Failure to produce identification at the interview would prevent the processing of your declaration at that time. Do both partners need to reside in Victoria? No, so long as one partner has a permanent Victorian residential address which is also the preferred postal address. Do both partners need to reside at the same address? No, it is not essential for both partners to be living at the same address. Who can apply to register their relationship? Any person (aged 16 years or over) who currently resides in Victoria (or has a partner who resides in Victoria) can apply to register i would read that as that you would be fine. Just use his address as a postal address good luck, keep me posted cos I will hopefully be registering my relationship whilst still living in Uk xx
  5. Does anyone know what the approx time is at the moment for offshore De Facto visas? Thanks
  6. I am very much in the same situation, I can't work there but have children here......can't take children over until I have visa*_* anyway I got told it is showing you have a committed relationship and a real reason to not co habit ( being in separate countries?? Isn't good enough! Apparently) mine is that I have children here..... Anyway I am heading over in May for two weeks, in Sept for 3 months and then again in Jan for 3 months. Will have to give up my job to do this but she is definitely worth it. Keep copies of all FaceTime calls/Skype, phone calls, emails, txts and what's app.......this can all be used in conjunction with your application. Talk to migration agent ( get your partner to do this as they are better regulated in Oz) PM me if you need anymore help? Good luck it's like a bloomin minefield.......xx
  7. Hi, I have a family law specialist working on me seeing the children whilst over there but I just wondered how other people coped with this. I already applied for my visa and it states ......,.. EVISITOR CONDITIONS 8101, 8201, 8527, 8528 so I am guessing this looks positive!!! Is it ok to go in and out of Oz and say it's to see my girlfriend? Definitely going to see a migration agent I think, I just didn't want to spend a fortune.....thanks
  8. Hi all, just to fill you in a little....... i met my partner 6 months ago, we've been living together in UK but due to a visa issue, very recently, she has moved back to Oz (she is Australian). I am looking to move out there on a tourist visa so that we can eventually live together for the 12 months and apply for a same sex (de facto?) visa. i cannot go straight away as I have children with my previous partner and we have to deal with all of the legal bull that comes with that!!! I hope to be there in September...... i know I can't work until I get the de facto visa but having read all of the difficulties on here with getting a job.....well put it plainly.....I'm scared! Should I get a police clearance form or is there anything I need, I was hoping to do volunteer work before I get my visa. Luckily my partner has a fairly well paid job but I don't want to be unemployed forever!!! I can't live like that. Here, in the UK, I am in office management/project co-ordination/PA and on job sites the jobs seem plentiful but everyone seems of the impression that foreigners can't get work Also any advice for visitation rights for children when the non custodial parent emigrates...... I have PR and I am the children's 'other mother' and I have shared residence here.....anyway any advice, positive or negative, is gratefully received!! i was so excited before I started reading the horror stories!!! Thanks in advance xxx
