  1. Hi, We will be moving to Melbourne in September and are starting to get things packed up for the move. However, there are a few items that we wish to bring with us, which may be frowned upon, due to the nature of their intended use and the materials they are made of. One such item is a Zassenhaus wooden coffee grinder, from West Germany. Is this going to be jumped on by the customs/quarantine inspectors, as it has been used and is wooden? We also have some vintage wooden ice skates from Holland. The metal blades have rusted, as they are purely decorative and are kept outside (on a balcony - we have no garden). Because they too are wooden, will they be allowed, particularly with the rust? Obviously, we can't bring food products with us, but we do wish to bring as much of the kitchen equipment as possible. Are there any no-nos you can advise on? We'd hate to lose any of our stuff and/or get fined, when we could just sell any items of risk before we leave. Thanks for your help. pearljamfan
  2. I applied for my 175 in June 2012. I met my girlfriend pretty much the same week, so she wasn't on my application. My 175 was granted in October, by which point it had become apparent that, happily, she isn't an axe murderer and that we also get on like a house on fire. Fast forward a few months: we have moved in together, set up a joint bank account and the utilities and, importantly, her WHV has been granted. The plan is that, by the time we get to Australia in September (I have to activate my visa by September), we will have been living together for 6 months. Once we've been out there for another 6 months, we can apply for the partner visa. I came across Form 1022 (Notification of Changes in Circumstances), which it seems I need to send to them if my relationship status has changed "before you have been immigration cleared (if you applied outside Australia)". On the front page of the form, it states the following : This is my first question: If I am visa granted on a 175 and she is visa granted on a 417 WHV, is this something I should be worried about? Would they realistically cancel my/our visa(s)? I imagine I need to tell them so that, when we apply for the partner visa, they have it on record and can see that we have been in a relationship from this date. Are they REALLY likely to use this to cancel a visa, or is this for more extreme changes in circumstance? Finally, a couple more questions: With regards address details, if my visa has been granted, do I still need to keep DIAC updated with new details? If my passport currently has less than 5 years remaining, will this cause me issues when I enter the country? Hopefully, someone can calm my nerves!
