  1. Hi all, At the moment I'm a primary teacher with MFL specialism. I have a degree in French but am interested in formally learning another language. I know some Italian and Spanish, but something completely different like Chinese would also be good. What would be most beneficial in Australia? Thank you.
  2. For my husband our reccie trip next year is a must and he won't consider emigrating without it. It comes down to how much of a gambler or how brave you are to just go for it. If I wasn't married I would have just taken the plunge but everyone's circumstances are different. Best of luck with your visit.
  3. Hi all, My husband and I are planning a trip to OZ in August next year. It's primarily a holiday but we also want to see if we could migrate in a year or two. We like the idea of Brisbane/Townsville, Melbourne or Sydney but of course it depends on where the best job opportunities are (I'm a Teacher and my husband is an accountant). We may just love an area, but what things should we look for in order to help us decide? What made you decide on one area over another? Any suggestions would be great.
  4. I love watching it for the scenery but take it all with a pinch of salt. Hubby finds it amusing how they compare working part time or not at all in the UK to working full time in OZ. Not exactly comparable!
  5. Is the issue that there aren't the jobs to apply for or is it that there are a good quantity of jobs but too many people going for them?
  6. I have followed this thread for a while and am interested to know how those migrating to Oz now are finding the job situation? It sounds very negative from a lot of posts (rightly given the over supply of Teachers), but I wondered what you had actually found when applying and actually getting to Oz?
  7. Thank you everyone for replying. It's very interesting to read how you made the decision to move. We couldn't go yet due to careers, but I like to plan ahead and OH doesn't. We're in our mid-twenties at the moment and have no children and if we go, we want to do so before we have children in 4/5 years time (ideally). OH has a degree in biomedical science and is studying for ACCA accountancy whilst working as a management accountant. I think he should be qualified with the required work experience to move to OZ in 2 years. I have a degree in French and a PGCE in primary with French. I take on board your advice Quoll about job prospects in Oz and know if we go, it will be hard for me to get a job. All this will have to be taken into consideration. Equally, if we can make it work for us, I don't want to push OH to go, but he is risk averse and we may really regret not doing it, when we have lost the opportunity. A trip to OZ is planned and I will continue to research about jobs and career aspects for us so we are prepared and informed and we will see what happens.
  8. Hi all, My husband and I are debating whether to emigrate to OZ in a few years. He's qualifying as an accountant and I've recently qualified as a Primary Teacher. I've always wanted to live in OZ but my husband isn't as keen as me and our families are dead against it. So I wanted to know how did you decide whether to make the leap or not?
