  1. Hi Nat! I'm also looking into moving to Oz - it is scary eh?! I'm also a teacher - so I know that you are going to have a little bit of time to plan, plan, plan over the summer holidays if you're intending to leave later in the summer! There's only so much planning you can do - and you are moving to a country where you can pretty much get everything you need, or sort anything you've forgotten via internet. The best thing about your partner being there first is that he'll be able to tell you what needs doing and what doesn't! It's an adventure! Enjoy the rest of your time here - you may not be back for a little while and you don't want to regret spending your time worrying before you leave! If you hate it when you get there then you'll figure out what to do then - but you can't worry about it like that in advance, otherwise you're not enjoying your time here. And you won't enjoy time there. At worst - you come home if you don't like it. You know you can get a job and find somewhere to live here - so what's to worry about?!! Totally normal to feel petrified - but just go with it. Lots of people on here are desperately struggling to move to Oz. This is a great opportunity. So give it a go! From what I understand, teaching over there is a lot less stressful, but it's hard to find work. However the good thing about going at end of summer is that their academic year starts in January - so it gives you time to put your feelers out for how it works and what's available or even if you want to teach out there. All the best! And Enjoy! Deb
  2. Thanks! Will start badgering!
  3. Can I ask what you all had to submit? I just want to check I'm on the right path with this?! I'm having to ask my old Uni department directly to provide me with evidence I did teaching placements!! Which is a bit poo!
  4. OK. Totally lost and you've probably answered this already - but I'd really appreciate any help! My sister is willing to sponsor me and lives in Queensland. I think my occupation is on the CSOL only though and I would only get state sponsorship from WA. Does that matter if I have family sponsorship, or should I just not go down this route? Thanks for any suggestions in advance!
  5. Thanks! I'm quite confused with all this! Do you think that means that there would be no possibility of me getting in without state sponsorship for WA? I'm assuming my experience in Early Years doesn't count for much! Good luck to you too!
  6. Hello all! I'm currently beginning the long potential process of applying for skilled migration to Oz on my own. It's all a bit scary so any guidance or ideas are completely welcome! I currently work in Early Years education in a Children's Centre in inner-city London, but my qualifications are for Primary teaching (most of my experience is with nursery or ages 0-5years). I've done lots of research and it looks like I'll have to apply for skills assessment under my qualifications. Initially I thought a migration agency may be able to help to make this clearer, but they've all said that I can apply differently or as an Early Years teacher - which I can't see happening! Several people have said that I may get state sponsorship from WA, but I have family in Queensland and would prefer (as I am going alone) to ideally live and work there! I've organised the IELTs exam and will take that soon and am starting to get skills paperwork sorted. I'm just going to go for it to see what happens, but any hints, tips or suggestions would be gratefully appreciated! It's a lot of money just to gamble without input and so far it's been really inconsistent advice! Deb
