  1. Hi Lady Rainicon! Thanks for your link . The price now seems to be $579/kg tobacco!!!! But how do I count???? I think gst is some procent of something, but of what.....????
  2. Hi! I am an older lady going to Australia for six weeks next year. :cute: I have been using 2,25 grams of snuff every day for more than 20 years now. What happens if I declare 108 grams (net weight)? How much fines will I be forced to pay (Duty and GST and perhaps other taxes), when declaring this tiny amount tobacco/snuff? :skeptical: I am well aware of, that I have to pay for all of it and not just 58 grams. How many AUD would that be roughly? Would appreciate a little answer, so I at least have a little hint .
  3. Hi! I´m going to travel by domestic flights in January/February next year. (Brisbane-Townsville, and from Rockhampton to Brisbane.) Do I have to book in advance already now in order to get the prices shown and to get a seat? Grateful for a little answer .
  4. Thanks a lot "srh82"! Premier Motor Services it will be .Costs only $87 Will that price remain, so I can book closer to departure e.g. in January?
  5. Hello there! I am trying to plan my next trip from Sweden: Brisbane - Townsville - Magnetic Island - Townsville - Rockhampton - Brisbane. Most of it I have found out, but I am very surprised to find that the flight Townsville - Rockhampton is so very expensive! $211!! :arghh: Flying between e.g. Brisbane-Townsville just costs $99 and Rockhampton-Brisbane just $95. Have I missed something here???? I have checked with different sites, but just ended up with the same high price. Need some good advices here
  6. Hi! Anyone here who know the best way to buy a flight ticket from Sidney to Cairns including some stop over? Next year I plan to do a trip from Sweden to Sidney, Brisbane, Rockhampton and at last Cairns and from there back to Sweden. I intend to stay between one or two weeks at each place. Of course I can buy one ticket for each distance, but it must be cheaper to buy just one including the stops I want to make. Would be great if anybody could give me some advicese . Many thanks in advance!!

  8. I am eligible for an aged parent visa. The big problem is that my son who is an Australian citizen refuses to be my sponsor!!!! Will it be just enough just to prove that he de facto is my son and then try to get another person to sponsor me during the first two years??
  9. Thanks for your answers here! I didn´t believe it being possibl either but just had to ask to be quite sure..
  10. Can there be a minimal chance to get a visa if I refer to the fact that my grandparents were Australian citizens between 1875-1900? They migirated from Sweden in their youth. Worked and lived in Brisbane. He as a sea captain and she as a nurse. My mother was, sorry to say, born here in Sweden since they relocated here 1900. (How could they be so stupid ) Three of her siblings were born in Oz.... Actually my roots seems to be in Australia because I feel more at home there then I have ever done here.... Anyone here who knows, if there is any visa which can be proper for me, 65 years old, retired, single lady, considering what I have mentioned above.... My highest wish is to be allowed to spend my last years of life Down Under . Please, please give me a positive answer!!!
  11. Thanks frogian for the informative answer!!! Just what I wanted
  12. Hello DownUnder! Could anyone please give me a hint of appr. costs/month if living in north east in Queensland permanently? I´d try to rent a house $1200-1400/month. Since I´ll most likely be on a bridging visa, I am not entitled to any subsidies from the government. How much would the following be per month appr.? Just a hint . Health Insurance: Ambulance ins.: Car Insurance (small second hand car): Car Registration: Pet Insurances (two dogs): Medication: Doctor visits: Food/one person: Petrol/litre: Water: Electricity: Gas: Mobile phone: Internet: Which costs are most commonly included within a house rent? Water, electricity, gas e.g.? Or does that vary between landlords? Looking forward to some good hints.
  13. Yes Sammy1, it is hard!!! When it comes to my son, I have to tell, that he has a big house loan to struggle with and he can´t even afford come over here to Sweden to visit me. So there are many troubles which are trying to stop me from migrating . I am able to pay for the visa because I have money saved for that purpose. The big problem is how to be able to pay rent, electricity a.s.o.
  14. Rupert and Dodgy: I know, that the word isn´t that good...... However, not asking, you´ll never got to know.... There might be some exeptions, or?
  15. Hello! My son, living in Melbourne can´t, sorry to say, afford to be my sponsor if I apply for Aged Parent Visa. I myself only get a very small aged pension in Sweden and it will be increase if I move outside EU.... (AU$ 1.017,98/month.) I now wonder how I may be able to find someone willing to support/sponsor me during the time until I am granted for that visas. Might be several years until I am entitled to benefits from your country. I am soon getting crazy of not knowing how to solv this issue :arghh:. I want to spend my last time of life in wonderful Australia, you see and I am allowed to apply for an aged parent visa. Anyone here, who can give me some advice, please?? I do hope so ! So long Ozie
  16. Ok, 30 km inland is not so bad and I think I have to be greatful to just find a house for the money I will be able to spend .
  17. Hi! Oh yes, I am aware of the distances . Since I don´t have any special place along that distance I purposed a place between those cities. The most important is, that the house isn´t that far from the ocean, since I will be able to drive there for a swim now and then. Besides, the climate seems very lovely up there. I love the Yeppoon area, however I know that prices there are far too high for me. So long Ozie
  18. Hi! I am looking for a cheap but proper pet friendly 2 bedroom house to rent somewhere between Mackay and Maryborough QLD from November 1st 2013. Would be very nice if it is situated within a distance not more than 3-4 miles from the coast. Within the coastal area it will most likely be way too expensive, I assume...... The maximum of rent I can afford to pay is $200/week. No doorsteps outside or inside wanted. Prefer vinyl floor covering concerning the dogs. Would appreciate a fenced garden.... I need to move in with my two tiny chihuahuas November 1st when they will be released from the quarantine. I arrive at Rockhamton end of September and have booked for a month at Emu Beach Resort. Anyone out there who can give me a good answer???
  19. Thanks! Will I get any interest of my money if I choose NAB? Any other bank, that you can recommend that has acounts with interest? What about Poms in Oz & Moneycorp?? MeBank, which seems to have high interest (http://www.savingsaccountfinder.com.au/members-equity-savings-account/me-bank-online-savings-account)
  20. Hello! I am going to emigrate from Sweden to Australia within one or two years. :daydreaming: Now I would like to open an Australian bank account in order to place some money Down Under in advance. Which bank and what kind of an account would be the best for me? Looking forward to a little answer from somebody. Kindly Marie
  21. Hello! I am quite new at this forum:). I would like to migrate to Australia and have passed the tests for a Parent Visa. However, I now have noticed that I will have to wait for TEN years to be considered a citizen.... Then I would be 74 years old and nobody knows if I am capable of migrate at that age... What about Aged Parent Visa?? How long do I have to wait for such a visa instead? I do hope, that there is somebody out there, who can answer properly to my questions, since I am getting very confused here and I want to move Down Under within the next two years at least. Please help me
