  1. Hi I'll be sending you a PM Later this evening. Sorry for the delay in responding! I've been in London. Thanks again for you reply, look forward to catching up with you.
  2. I have my CV Laid out in UK Format, yet for the position of employment I'd be seeking in Oz, I haven't worked in that area for 4 years. Therefore, would I need to put current & any previous occupations down to complete the gaps, even though they would be irrelevant to the job role?
  3. Looking at my options and seems with my Pre-Press experience I could look at a limited State sponsorship (ACT) via a 190 Visa or seek out companies who may look to sponsor via the 457 route. Just interested to hear of anybody going through a Migration route of the back of their UK Print skills or who are currently employed for an Australian business. I'd appreciate any general responses. Thanks!
  4. I've had some more information to read today with regards to the possibility of using my electrical route. Looks like I can use the 190 or 489 Visa route, SS or Regional. I've got 3 years exp, mainly Domestic & New Build with an NICEIC Contractor. I'm being told 3 years would be enough? Perhaps this is to do with the Sponsored route & not the 189 Visa applicants? I wouldn't also be too discontented with any Gap Training or Australian certification as I've only finished my qualies 2 years ago, so I'm still kind of in a books mindset. I'm Single, not bringing over a family or Mortgage concerns, so it's a little easier that way too & I've not got any aspirations as to what State will have me! But I am concerned with the Vetasses route of skills assessment. I know I haven't got the broad range of ability and although I'd be OK on most of it, some of the containment & Motor sections etc are out of my scope due to lack of experience in that area. Does any of this get taken into consideration & you may have to show additional training in OZ or is the assessment a straight acceptance or rejection? I'm not trying to pull any fast ones, I know where I sit in the UK Market - Electrical Improver/Mate and wonder what the situation is for this level? I'm realistically imagining that you're either an Electrician or you're not and nothing in between.
  5. Thanks for the info. My occupation is not on SOL, only the CSOL, therefore rules out 189. It looks like 190 is the route through ACT. I should have an idea on how to move on this (or not) this week. If I apply now though through EOI at age 39, if no acceptance by State nomination has come through by my Birthday, do the points not count as to when I applied?
  6. I've had an encouraging response from my assessment through the Agent and I'm expecting to here more this week. It now looks like I could apply for SS to ACT and have been reading their guidelines for the application of approval/nomination. My Occupation is currently open (not sure how often this changes) and will be turning 40 in March. So, wonder if I should be looking at EOI application first or ACT Nomination? Looks to be a fair bit of paperwork to collect for SS, but shouldn't be too tricky, just lots of calling & email approaches. Thanks for any advice, I'm enjoying looking around the site, lots of useful information to take on board.
  7. Thanks! For the response. I do remember seeing the 7 year mark previously, just with this year's changes wondered what the deal was. It's off to the Print Trade I go...
  8. There's a lot here to flick through...I retrained into Electrical Installation at 34yrs Old through 3 year Nightschool C&G 2330. In that time getting qualies, I've had about 4 years work experience, most of it Domestic & New Build Site, with odd Retail Commercial. I'm more than likely going to use my previous career for any application (if I'm able to) but thought I'd ask if there were avenues for Electrical Improvers? Or does this title not exist in OZ & you're either an Apprentice or an Electrician. Just after another slight option if anybody is aware of others in my shoes trying?
  9. I'm not 100% sure. Not until I receive back my assessment from the MA. But my Graphics/Pre-Press is not on the SOL, so that does seem to rule out the 189 route. Therefore 457 ENS or RSMS looks an option. I know it's Temporary, yet I'm aware of the route to PR from this through the streams. I'm waiting for advice before making any plans/aspirations at all. Thanks for your response though...
  10. Hi all, Recently joined, have been browsing a fair bit. Just sent in an assessment to a MA. Looks like from my reading I'll have to look at 457 route...I have 2x Trades, Print Industry - A Studio Pre-Press/Repro/Digital Print Role which I've done for around 18 years & the last 4 have retrained into Electrical Installation as an Electrician's Mate. Looks like my Print experience will be better served and so I'll see what advice comes back from the MA. I was out in Robina, Gold Coast in February of this year Visiting a Mate & watching the Quick Silver Pro Surf contest at Snapper Rocks. I'm looking to move to areas from Brisbane down through to NSW, Byron Bay...(advice pending) Lots of good info here with plenty of reading to do. Just getting a bit fed up now with it all, the lack of job security (especially in Electrical field). Somebody told me recently that we don't really know what we want until our 40's, so with the 40 looming next Spring, I'm either having a Mid Life Crisis or finally decisive on my life's path... We'll see...
  11. Hi all! Have been reading the forum posts past week & lots of good information to take in BTW!... After deliberating on doing this for a few years now, I'm biting the bullet & looking at inroads to see if there is a possibility. I've lodged an assessment with a MA & will wait to see what they offer in terms of advice before I get too carried away. My main background & career has been in Pre-Press (Apple Macintosh Studio employment within a Print company). Has anybody here moved out & into this type of employment? It's looking like a 457 is needed as my title appears only on the CSOL. I'd like to be based along the East Coast - Brisbane, Gold Coast down towards NSW (Byron) as I'm a keen Surfer & Love being by the Ocean as have lived in Cornwall for a short while in the past. It'd be good to chat to others, but otherwise I'll be reading lots & posting my progress. Thanks Andy
