  1. We have been living in Geraldton for over 2 years now. You could live most places in Geraldton for 400 per week for a 3x2 within 20 mins of the centre. It depends if you want to live semi rural on a larger block further out or in one of the more central suburbs. We live in Mount Tarcoola which with Wandina is one of the newer suburbs full of families. There are two primary schools and a new very good nursery. Both are 5 minutes from the CBD and beaches. You could definitely get a 3x2 for that money in either suburb. Sunset Beach is another similar suburb with nice new housing about 10 minutes out of the CBD. further out there is Drummonds Cove which takes about 15 minutes into the CBD. It is all new housing, full of families and next to a lovely beach. When I have worked it out I will post a rough idea of bills.
  2. Just in the middle of preparing our 887 application at the moment. Should be ready to submit next week. Unfortunately, the first question on the visa application is whether or not you have lived and worked regionally for 2 years. So, yes you will have to wait for 2 years. We have been impatient as well, but the end is in sight. It seems to be a relatively straight forward application. Make sure you have all of your documentation ready to evidence that you have lived and worked regionally etc. You could start scanning it in now to save you time nearer to when you submit your application. We also chose WA to settle in and are about 6 hours north of you in Geraldton.
  3. Not sure 100% but think that holidays are fine. Does anyone know which AFP clearance you need to apply for with the 887 visa. With fingerprint check, or without?
  4. We have met the one year regional work requirement on our visa. Whilst we are waiting to fulfill the two year regional living condition are we allowed to live regionally (i.e Mandurah) but work in Perth?
  5. We did the 475 application ourselves so this one should be okay I guess. It seems to be a straight forward online application. We have been careful and kept absolutely everything relating to address, work etc. Can't wait, it will be a big weight off our minds. Hopefully we're not being naive about the 887 visa. Please let me know if you hear any advice or horror stories so I can prepare myself!
  6. We arrived two years ago in August and we will be applying for our 887 visa then. Having fulfilled the conditions of the 475 visa to live and work regionally for 2 years, do we have to wait for the 887 visa to be granted before we could live and work in Perth? We don't want to do anything to jeopardise the PR we have waited so long for. Good to know there are others at the same stage of the process as us.
