  1. Is there any issue with taking fridges/fridge freezers? Read something about the fact that they have the refrigerator gas in them? Anyone know if its true? We have an American fridge freezer and a smaller undercounted freezer that I would like to bring but don't want any issues!
  2. Hi there, I can answer one question and that is that it doesn't matter about your bankruptcy history. My partner was also made bankrupt several years ago, and it had absolutely no bearing on our visa (which we got in may 2012, just planning the big move now!) good luck with it all!!!
  3. Was not sure where to put this question so hope this is ok here!! We are planning our emigration to Perth this year and obviously starting to think about ALLLLLL the things that need to be done before we leave. i was wondering if anyone knows ......I am on Vodafone in the uk (and I know there is an Australian branch of Vodafone) so is it possible just to transfer my contract??? Likewise with our pet insurance which is with Petplan, and I believe they have an Aussie branch. Any ideas or experiences greatly appreciated!
  4. Just starting the laborious process of getting quotes from shipping companies. I have quite a large collection of carved wooden animals from various trips to foreign countries including Africa, India and the Caribbean. I have been told that they should be packed separately and declared, and may need to be treated. They are all polished and stained with no 'raw wood'. I have spent the last 20 years collecting these, and do not want to leave them behind, but on the other hand, do not want to be saddled with a large bill for fumigation (or other treatment). Does anyone have any experience or advice to give???!
  5. Why would port charges be more than airport charges? Surely they are checking the same things? Hadn't considered sending our bike by airfreight but if it was going the be cheaper then its worthwhile. How would I go about finding out prices for airfreight? Wouldn't know where to start!!!
  6. Booked 3 more visits from shipping companies, and emailed the export company to book the car export. So much to do and so little time. We are also planning our wedding for April, and then emigration in may.....think we're going to be ever so slightly busy!!!
  7. We are planning on moving to Perth this year, I have a job lined up but not my partner. I know that he is really worried about it, but I think that as long as we have one income, we should be ok. I think it will be easier (I hope!) for him to get a job when we get there (he's a builder).
